vs Crewe thread.

Curses be buggered. I just had to k/o this one ,coz in light of our poor start, and in an effort to help the club as best as I can, I've planted my tomatoes 5 weeks early. How many goals will my man Hunter get?

I suspect, like Stanley, your toms are going to need a lot of careful attention over the next few weeks!

Just for you, KJ

According to the stats, we haven't had a single shot at goal in the first half.
Is it as bad as it appears?

Don't really want to water the Toms as it rained quite heavily before k/o and I don't want to drown the wee things.... but if we go a goal down, I shall sacrifice them.

Two poor sides today but not helped by poor refereeing allowing both sides to do too much pushing and pulling. I cannot understand why the acquisitions from non league are being started ahead of our young players who were showing some promise last season….Dan Martin, Ben Woods, Alex Henderson, Aaron Pickles, Lewis Trickett and also the more experienced Liam Coyle. I cannot understand why Sean Whalley was subbed as he was our main threat and showed no signs of tiring. Also Seamus was looking good for a full match too. The defence, ie back four, seems to pick itself now due to limited numbers (plus Aaron Pickles) but there is just no punch up front!

Awful performances, and result.
Most worrying thing is that Crewe were not even a good team but they knew exactly how to frustrate (almost) every move Stanley tried to construct and to make their one chance count when it mattered.

The Dynamic Duo need to pick a better starting attacking group of players. Same old, same old isn't creating enough chances and shots ........and we have options.....playing football in League 2 doesn't get you points.....

Two poor teams & a poor ref = heartbreak for Stanley
Nil apiece would have been fair I think as tbh neither side deserved 3 points - if things don't improve significantly, this could be our swan song season in league football I'm afraid
BUT - to the 'fans' behind me on the Clayton End, constantly shouting "you're s**t".at the players helps nobody!
Get behind the lads or stay home

Got to post this before I forget, but are things that bad that after around 25 minutes, Kelly - after being berated by Rawson and Seamus - had to go down to stop play, so we could get instruction......

He was not in anyway injured.......

We cannot be that bad - can we????

I’m afraid we were, yesterday, Val.
Exemplified by Shaun Whalley, consistently our best player for some time, who couldn’t seem to put a foot right.
Everyone gets an off day but, to my no doubt jaundiced eye, Stanley were again smothered in their own half, with the threat of O’Brien and Batty getting down the wings to put in crosses mostly snuffed out before they could get to the half way line.
Can’t imagine how the likes of Alex Henderson, Dan Martin, Ben Woods and Liam Coyle would have done any worse given their performances last season.

Young lads, loanees with very little or no experience of professional league football and the scraps of released players from last seasons opponents, means it's always going to be a slog. 12 games in from the start will give us a better idea where we might be heading.

That's a pretty fair summation Cashy.....however as we've got what we've got until January, I think the defence is playing as well as it can and has improved quite a bit. However, I'd start with Costello up front with Henderson and Whalley either side...in a 4-3-3....I think Mooney and Knowles look like they've lost their mojo and need to be left on the bench to get hungry...

Re: vs Crewe thread.

Poor game between two not good sides....

We did not offer much overall, but - again - a draw would have been fair.. just.

Walton looked off it, one of his worst games sadly :(

Let us hope the early kick off can help us catch Vale out ;)
