Chesterfield game

So another season over.

Not a bad game yesterday, the starting XI will never have played together and never will again...

Very few of those starting yesterday will do so again, so that has to be taken into account, but I enjoyed the game, I enjoyed the atmosphere, the 'red' displays was great also - pity we do not see it more often....

I know it was end of season, but I hope that The Club are true to their word and carry on with the initiatives from yesterday :)

The engagement with the kids was brilliant and a joy to see - well done to all :)

:)

I agree about the game and our performance Val. The attacking players brought in this year haven't lived up to expectations which probably reflects the "gulf in class" of strikers in National League North and the football league. John and Ged must decide if they can improve next season. We created much more up front in the second half in an attacking sense but our quality in front of goal let us down.....as it has done all season. Overall an almost enjoyable game which showed the depth we had in the squad this year.....

Considering it appeared to be more or less a second XI, or at least an unfamiliar squad, I thought the team did well enough.
There was no “ball winner” in midfield and the first half was a struggle. The introduction of O’Brien Whitmarsh and other second half subs enlivened things as the Snakeites started thinking about hanging on to their lead.
Stanley created enough chances - Batty’s audacious attempt a standout, a near miss from Martin, the late double chances coming off the woodwork - but Mooney’s weak side-footed attempt exemplified both the best and the worst of Stanley’s attacking prowess.
Anyone got a spare £8k per week for Grigg?

Good summary Exile..... Is Grigg really on that much? He did stand out with his finish, his almost a second goal and his hold-up play, lay-offs and distribution......

Mind you, £4K was last season. Anything is possible in the financial la-la land of football.
