Re: League Cup Rd1
Sorry C.G., the reason it has been changed is because of the Premier League teams and Europe....
Apologies for the confusion :) :) |

Re: League Cup Rd1
I stopped going to the Papa Johns/Bristol.St Motors or whatever it's been called lately after they messed with the format for the sake.of bringing premier team's under it's into it & with this ridiculous new rule in place, the Caraboa cup won't be on my list of priority games either I'm afraid

Re: League Cup Rd1
It's not a new rule. There have been a few seasons where the 2 promoted teams have had to play off. This is the first time anybody else has been involved but I've been expecting this announcement for a few weeks. I knew we needed to finish 20th or above to avoid it.

Does not detract away from the fact that it is a joke!! :) |
Re: League Cup Rd1
Couldn't agree more. They juggle the first round depending on who is in Europe. Normally, the teams that finish 18th and 19th in the Premier League are exempt along with the Premier League. One extra team in Europe means they lose their exemption, two extra teams means the two promotions from the National League play off, but this is the first time there have been three extra teams and I could only see that meaning one thing. The tragedy is it's an EFL competition but money talks more than loyalty to their clubs.

Re: League Cup Rd1
Folks not good
BUT 30% of the money EFL Clubs get is because the PL teams play in the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) That gets the full house at Wembley for the final and all the TV coverage. Yes it's a pain but we could go to Oldham and make circa £50k. Our trip to Tranmere last year made about £2k A home game v Oldham would see a sell out away end plus the secondary spend. Not good but EFL membership is worth over £1.5m in monies from EFL and PL. |
Re: League Cup Rd1
