2025/26 Prediction League Game 3 v Salford (away)
Salford City V Accrington Stanley 2025/26 Prediction League Game 3 v Salford Moneybags Starter for Ten; Matthew Paul le Tissier played for Southampton 443 times in his 16-year career there, and was their second highest scorer behind Windmill Channon. Surprisingly, he was only capped 8 times. He was also The Saints’ penalty taker, taking 48 spot kicks and scoring an astonishing 47 of them …………. Obvious starter for ten, then: Name the GK who saved Le Tiss's 48th penalty in 1993 …………. Then I want to know who he played for at the time, who his manager there was, the Manager’s nickname for said GK (he actually had two for him), and the colour of the GK’s jumper in that game ………… I will tell you that the missed kick was placed shoulder-high just to the keeper’s right, and was blocked Salford finished last season in 8th place, one point and quite a few goals off the playoffs; fourteen left in the summer - three to League Two rivals (Conor McAleney to Harrogate, Curtis Tilt to Bratfud), four to non-league and a striker called Dackers to the Killies (is that a limerick-opener?) …………………. they lost 3-1 at home to Crewe in game one, then beat Notts Co 2-1 away for 3 points and 14th place, and went out of the EFL Cup 3-2 to Rotherham on pens after a half-Desmond; they’re at Newport on Tuesday and Walsall next Saturday, and don’t forget that our game against Tranmere on Tuesday 19th has been postyponied because of a lights failure last Tuesday Bit of a lottery as yet, but they are certainly do-able, so here’s hoping And the GK who saved Matt’s 48th penalty was Mark Crossley, then of Forest, managed by the one-and-only Brian Clough …………. Crossley was known to BC as “Jigsaw”, because when the ball came into his box he went to pieces ………… less kindly, Cloughie called Crossley “sh1thouse” …………. and Crossley was wearing a fetching purple jumper for that game (it’s on YouTube) ………… and Matt is unrelated to Lioness Maya le Tissier Good Luck to everyone! …… Keep the Faith! ……. And thanks for playing! …………….(and I’m still keeping count of entries, as 11 was followed last week by 9! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm) :theband::theband::theband: |
