Accystan.co uk

Hi
As you probably know I am now and have been for a while co-editor of accystan.co.uk, and i have recently read alot of criticism about the site. I would just like to know what improvement could be made as i will then forward them to kev and we will discuss them and hopefully if they are reasonable they will get put into place.

Some people may have seen in the club shop today we have our own set of business cards advertising the site, hopefully this shows most of you the level of commitment we are putting in. Obviously you all have a grudge against kev for reasons out of my control.

But please can we note i have not let the ultras or stanley down and all that i want is YOUR opinion and advice to improving our site. this would be highly appreciated from both me and kev and hopefully in the long run it will improve our site

Thanks in advance

John

Get rid of all the ads and popups for a start matey... AccyStanKev is just your average robbing from stanley ultras-copying original content-typical 'journalist' ...

giving me proper credit for my pics would be nice.. its www.kipax.com and it should be seen not hidden black writing on dark grey background :(

It would be nice if one of you went to the games you make up reports about.

Other than that its as per jimbo... too many pop up adverts. spelling and grammer worse than mine and thats saying summat.. "The two games went into the game knowing that the winner would ??

Well you did ask :)

Re: Accystan.co.uk

Thanks for your replys

OK for the popups they are because of footymad and WE can do nothing about them no matter how annoying they are.

For kevs articles i can do nothing about, he is the main editor of the site

KIPAX you will now get more credit for your pictures which are highly appreciated so we will definatly give you more credit (sorry for the text being "hidden" from easy view)

UNfortunatly we cannot make it to every away game but i do attend every home game as i am a season ticket holder, away games for this season are fiarly expensive for me and kev me being a student i am constantly skint (looking for a part time job), and kev is still at school and probably is also probably skint, As i have said iam looking for a job so once i get the cash flow sorted i will get to more away games therefore be able to write the reports better.

Spelling and grammer sorry about this its just human error but hopefully as this has been highlighted we will take more notice of it. Ill have a chat to Kev about sorting some kind of check out.

Ok thats all so far they will be used and thanks for telling us what you think is wrong so hopefully this should lead to a better site.
anymore comments will be gratefully accepted

Thanks again
John

Re: ****************

Hi,

As John says the popups and adverts are all from Footymad- they need to make money you know!

Once I manage to get a sponsor I will be able to get rid of the national ads and put more local adverts up from whomever sponsors the site and I will begin trying to finbd a sponsopr in the next few weeks- if anybody is interested pleas econtact me via the link below...

As for the spelling adn grammar, I have been trying to find something that I can use a spellchecker on (not word cos i cant afford it lol) but as yet havent found anything. As for the grammar I have had lots and lots to do recently, what with the tons of coursework and the THUNDERBOLT nightclub(visit www.thunderbolt.iceglow.com for more info) and I have not had time to write as many articles aor read over them as mch but in a few weeks everything should be back to normal.

If youbody is interested in giving me and John any suggestions for the site, or if you would like to join John on the co-editor's list or maybe you'd like to become the site sponsor please send me an email with the address below...

Re: Accystan.co.uk

Sorry to be a kill joy just been browsing but u did ask for opinions!! In all honesty i prefer to use the offical accy website for ASFC info as i find it easy to use, well set out n welcoming with many of the side links to pages least filled. I suppose its down to cost n what web designer software n hosting u have so would be harsh to compare., but i do feel its a more masculine domain rather thro design n setup of it whereas i dont get that feel from other footy sites ive been on.

HTH

Re: Accystan.co.uk

ps what i mean is it may not appeal to all ASFC fans like kids n girlies based on browing impressions in my opinion.

well unfortunatly the layout and popups ect. are out of john and my hands. all we control are the articles but are constantly looking for ways to improve the site so PLEASE if anybody has any unique ideas

maybe get some new moderators hehehehe, get a copy of word instead of paying the full price or borrow it off someone so you can install it on your computer

Re: Accystan.co.uk

Did I read this right? John is a student and Kev is still at school? Maybe you should both spend a bit less time playing around with the website and a bit more studying. That way you might just have a fighting chance of improving your literacy.

PS If you can't access spellcheck software programmes buy a dictionary(available for a couple of pounds in the discount bookshops) and read through your text before you commit it. It's not rocket science!

Re: Accystan.co.uk

and that would take how long alice?

Wynonie Harris 07-02-2005 15:01

Re: Accystan.co.uk

It would probably take about 30 minutes maximum to proofcheck the whole of Kev and John's website. Not a great deal of time and, I would have thought, a prerequisite for any budding journalist!

stanleyclaret 07-02-2005 15:08

Re: Accystan.co.uk

what 30 mins to go through it all with a dictionary checking all the words?

Re: Accystan.co.uk

I'm presuming that they do actually have a passing familiarity with the English language, so they will only have to look up a few words that they have difficulty with? If they are so sub-literate that they have to look up every single word, then, as Cafu01 says, their time would be better spent in taking extra tuition.

Wynonie Harris 07-02-2005 15:30

Re: Accystan.co.uk

So what are you saying, Kev - anything's better than nothing? If you want to be a journalist, then show a modicum of professionalism and proofcheck your copy!

If you dont have time for it then im sure other people would be able to run the site. You asked for our views are we are telling you

well said Kipax, im sure a die hard stanley fan would take up the opportuniy to run the site............... are you voluntearing Kipax :)

Re: Accystan.co.uk

mmm not on being arguementative when really u did ask for opinions to your site, i do think in my opinion that there seems to be a lot of 'right hand not knowing what left hand is doing n blame the other', whether it being good or constructive critism that used be used to benefit n correct your site for maximum user enjoyment n depends whom your basing your website on - what user do u want to attract?? whom are u aiming your site at??? what can your site do for others or its benefits to your customer base?? how can your site be different n unique than other sites???

What i've seen of it like i said i could get better at the offical ASFC site n u need to be different than that site, like u have squad details, match updates etc ...well u can get the latest from that site n whats the point when ASFC have their own anyway if its gonna come off officious. Are u a ASFC fanzine type site??? - thats the thing i dont get your angle?

Does that help

I dont have time to run the site or i would apply to be a moderator for it.

Re: Accystan.co.uk

Whoo cheers Kipax :) aye when i want to find out about the club i go direct n cut the middle man out more chances of getting the right facts plus it steps too much on the toes of ASFC's own webby which i do like its getting better than it was b4. Im not sure what the post originator is angling at n i dont think he's too sure either lol :D . I think he is better going for a more fanzine web type rather than it is now n i suggest he does some market research on what prospective fans want to see n his needs to be original with his ideas, simple things as layout/design needs careful consideration.

Re: Accystan.co.uk

Ok thanks again for you ideas, before i start please may i make sure that you all know iam not a burnley fan in any form or shape (ok then maybe the bad grammer) but i have never been to watch them play. i started getting intrested in stanley a few years back and since then i have hardly ever missed a home game, yes i do not attend the away games as much as i would like to but iam getting myself a evenings and sunday job therefore i will be able to afford this.
Secondly to the comment about spending more time studying i am at college 9-5 everyday (More than most college students) and surley the only way to improve is to practise i am doing this on the site but obviously some people cannot cope with some bad grammer and spelling mistakes but i normally copy all of my articles into word to spell check them. the grammer needs to be improved i hold my hands up SORRY

For the idea of a more fanzine style site i think this maybe the way forward i will talk to kev about it and we will research some other similar sites. the thing is wiht this is that most people who surport stanley do not like anything said about the club that hasent come from the horses mouth. It may be a case of losing some hits for the site to pick up others, who would be in favour of a more fanzine style site?

Also why would kipax take control of the site he has enough on his plate with his own site and other commitments.

Once again cheers for the ideas and comments they are all welcomed

Thanks john

ACCYSTAN.co.uk - The Accrington Stanley Fanzine

Hi,

Me and John have decieded to go ahead with ideas to turn the site into a fanzine. To make it so it suits all the fans we'd like to you put down here your ideas on what you think we should include. I have already had an idea about putting sound files of the club chants etc. dont know this is allowed though so if anybody knows could they let me know that would be very helpful.

Also we are planning to do a fans section every wekk or so so if any fans want to answer a few questions for me or write a short article to go on in the 'FANS VIEW' again can they please let me or John know.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions on the other site and hopefully this will make more people visit the site.

KEVO!

AND FOR WHOEVER (PROB ROy) gave me the karma for 'blatent advertising'- give me one other way i can get this info...

Roy 10-02-2005 21:16

Re: Accystan.co.uk

1. Using your own website as a resource.
2. Actually going to a stanley match and asking real live people.
3. Ask at a Burnley forum where all your mates hang around.

There's three other ways you can get this info straight away. Now you had better start being careful here kev because I am very close to the BAN button right now....

Bazf 11-02-2005 02:23

Re: Accystan.co.uk

use the internet......
use the Telephone......
use your imagination........
Not really that hard when you come to think about it, work really hard at your website and make Footymad rich.
If you want to put chants on you can use these
(to the tune of Adams Family)
Your mother is your sister,
your father is your brother,
you like to shag eachother,
The Burnley Family.

(to the tune of you are my sunshine)
You are a dingle
A smelly dingle
You're only happy on giro day
Your mum's a stealer
Your dad's a dealer
Please don't take my hubcaps away

(To the tune of always look on the bright side of life)
Always look on the Turf Moor for ****e!
dada dada dadada!

Hi again me and kev are now on the way for the stanley fanzine site. Thanks for all the help and advice all have you have given.

I was just wanting to know what kind of questions would you want the ever present stanley faithful to answer? this will go in a section similar to the one we have got now where we ask the away fans questions and should be a weekly section.

(Send your answers on a postcode to 1 the BBC PO box 1573 Blue peter studio) no only kidding just leave them here and that would be great

Also can i ask who would be up for ansering these question becuase with out the fans we cant have a fanzine..

Once again cheers

John

I have to say I don't personally know accystankev and it sounds as if I'm not likely to meet him at a Stanley game either.
From what I see on the forum here though it sounds as if you don't really know very much about anything. So how are you going to produce a website?
You can't expect Rob to do it all for you.
Why don't you try coming along to the IES on matchdays and talk to the fans. If you can demonstrate some real commitment to the club and show that you're willing to do the work you'll find plenty of people there willing to help you.

Alice I go to every home game of stanleys i am a season ticket holder so please dont get me and kev mixed up we are two differnet people i have joined to edit this site to try and improve it for tha stanley fans that is all and the only was to make it better for them is to ask what they want that is what i am doiong here.

If you want anything on the site then just ask and me and kev will consider it

Found a couple more maybe he could use them.......

Chim-chimney, Chim-chimney
Chim-Chim, Chiroo
We hate those b***ards in claret 'n' blue

To the tune of the Inspiral Carpets song...
'This is how it feels to be Burnley,
This is how it feels to be sad,
This is how it feels when your sister's shaggin' your dad.'

A scum one, we cant leave them out....
To the tune of 'My Old Man's A Dustman'...

'Oh, the megastore is magic,
They sell some magic hats,
And when I saw the duvet,
I said I fancy that,
I even bought the curtains,
And dressing gown in white,
I follow Man United cos they sell a lot of sh*te.'

Neville Neville, you play in defence,
Neville Neville, your play is immense,
Neville Neville, like Jacko you're bad,
Neville Neville is the name of your dad.'
