You can usually find match updates and sometimes even entire match commentary on the radio or streamed on the 'net. Try Radio Lancashire, 2BR or the local BBC radio for Crawley Town. Unfortunately, I'm at work at the moment and don't have any of those links handy.

Well that really puts the tin hat on it! Does anyone in the management team actually want a play off place??? What possible reasons can there be for fielding that starting line up;I've read your post Mr Timmins, and I don't believe a word of it.You don't rest your "tired" players at such a crucial stage and then bring them on with about 10 mins left and no chance of turning the game around.
I am working on a cv for my cat as I think it has more management skills than the current management team!

But it is still in our own hands as we play four teams in the playoff race. Three wins and a draw might yet be enough, but four wins and 72pts and we are definitely in the playoffs.

Crushing result against a team that was faltering. Totally bewildered at the lineup, but Adam Cottier on Radio Lancashire was saying that we were all over them until we went gung-ho in the final quarter. Sounds like we were playing well, but back to our old habit of missing sitters. :bangh8:

Re: crawley latest

hi folks stanley played very well in the first half should have gone in 2 goals to the good but finishing was very poor and as you know we were 1 down and it wasnt long before we had thrown it all away in the second half, i have to agree with lindsay that as soon as the team was annonced my heart sank, no rorry on the left and werst still to come cook was starting the game, eventualy we saw rory come on and play on the right ???? why play a left footed player that can cross pin perfect balls on the wrong side of the pitch it dont make sense.
as for the supporters its the first time i have ever seen them sit down and stop singing 15 minutes before the end and they were still sat 10 minutes after the finish, i think in our hearts we all felt the end of a dream had come today for anouther season, but looking at the tables we still have a chance, so ON STANLEY ON, JK FOR GODS SAKE SORT THINGS OUT!!!

Re: crawley latest

Just back... stayed in the clubhouse until gone six.....then a nice meal in leatherhead then back to accy..

Starting line up surprise.. But we played well in the first half.. hit the woodwork twice and should have been winning.... Stanley where the better team...

Second half Flyn seemed to pick up an injury so maybe forced off... changes made with Evil and rory on and guess what.. we played far worse in the second half using the players we wanted to see in the start line up....we where deffo worse second half...So figure that out?

Theres a fans forum on wed so if you have somehting you want to say then get down there and say it....

My view on Coley...He has never managed a conf club before.. yet he is doing better than most experienced conf managers.... he is learning just like the players and everyone else is at this level... I still believe Coley and Jimmy are the men for the job... Its been a long hard day.. seen the team lose and prob out the playoffs.. I am knacered and it would be easy to take it out on the management... But I aint.... Coley will do it...........

The stewards said we are the noisiest fans to visit all season.........

Re: crawley latest

I just want to say a humble "Thank You" to all the supporters who made that long journey to Crawley and represented those of us who stayed up North for one reason or another.

You must be feeling so disappointed with the result , and I know that you'll all be frustrated by the way things went.

I can only say that you've been a total credit to Accrington Stanley thoughout the season , and we're so genuinely grateful for your continued presence at away matches - especially now that they really are at such a distance - with all the time and expense which that incurs.

You're a great bunch of supporters , representing a great team , and you have consistently shown your (and the team's) spirit and "bouncebackability" , so whatever the outcome of the few remaining games in this year's Conference I know you'll be back with new ideas , renewed enthusiasm and a total belief in Accrington Stanley .

We're all proud of you . Well done.

Re: crawley latest

Just thought you may welcome some views from a Crawley Reds perspective. Have to support all that has been said about Accy fans. They made a lot of noise, had all their banners with them. One of the better supports seen from visiting supporters. Hard to judge the number but I would estimate 100.
In the first 20 mins Accrington were all over us, although Crawley were playing five men in midfield you were still going through us with ease. Yor centre forward ( Miller??) won everything in the air...and as has been said you hit the woodwork a couple of times and forced a couple of good saves from our keeper. We scored from a long ball from the left near the halfwayline, you defence failed to pick up one of our midfielders, who had a shot blocked but this was put in by our new forward.

second half much better for us and in truth I think we edged it.

Playoffs in your own hands, in the first 20 minutes you looked one of the better teams who had visited Broadfield.

I presumed it was said out of understandable frustration on the day....the thought hat ANYONE at the club doesn't want a play off place is rediculous to say the least... Come on lyndsay you know they want it... they might have a funny away of showing it hehe... but you know they want it :)

I agree with Henry Morton. What an excellent Post!!

I do think that the management team want to get into the play offs, but for whatever reason we lost. Do you think Mr Coleman went down to Crawley for a draw? I would have been happy with a draw considering Crawleys home record this season.

Ant (Crawley) 04-04-2005 08:31

Re: crawley latest

Interesting thoughts on your line up. Our manager certainly expected something different as he started 4-5-1 to match up against ypou. Then after 20 mins he matched up against you as well with 4-4-2.

Overall thought you had the better of the first half...our goal something of a steal. After that thought we were the better side and a much improved effort on some recent displays.

Wondered what your feelings were on O'Neill. Certainly felt he could have walked as his free kick was just stupid. No attempt to do anything other than kick our man over. And the dubious handball where your keeper was given the benefit of the doubt.

Good clean game though and adequate revenge for what remains our worst away defeat of teh season (and there have been plenty). And your support was superb. I've happy memories of Accy having been there several times when I was at Uni in Preston

in my eyes he is our best player and not to play our best player in a very very important game is rather bemusing but coley is the manager and he must have his reasons and we have to respects his decisions.

following up on Henry's post, as an Accy lad exiled down south many a long year, I looked around the Stanley support and was proud of my birthplace. Brilliant support, much admired at southern grounds, humour, friendlyness and no serious foul language. Take a bow lads 'n lasses, it's a priviledge to stand among you.
The game, as has been said, we dominated the first half and two finger-tip saves against the woodwork kept Crawley in it. Couldn't find Moses on the Crawley teamsheet but our defence still did a Red-sea impression to let them pour through. They defended in numbers - we appeared to have a thin blue line.
