Have i missed something Brett
Brett Omerod scored 2 for Wigan so far, is he there on loan from Southampton or has he moved on?
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
hes on loan there
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
He's on loan according to his website.
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
Brett's staying at Wigan til the end of the Championship season; and Wigan apparently are confident about signing him in the summer
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
I bet he is happy to be near his family and mates in Rishton again.
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
He's actually said he'd love to sign a contract with wigan
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
One would imagine that Brett has a good agent who has positioned him at Wigan with the appropriate "What if" and "In The Event Of" clauses , aimed at his client being in a Premiership Team next season.
So , only Joe Royle (the greatest manager to come out of Lancashire IMHO) and his Tractor Boys can spoil the party ! |
Re: Have i missed something Brett
I know Brets mum and dad, i know his brother Darren and i think they are the nicest family you could ever wish to meet. that is with being a taxi driver. I have taken Bret home two or three times and concider the lad a gentleman.

Re: Have i missed something Brett
Technically, Wigan have only extend the loan deal for another month and can be recalled at any time. The fact that Wigan only have 3 more games to play means it is until the end of the season assuming they do not go via the play off route, in which case, he could be recalled prior to the final. If he does sign as is anticipated in Wigan, then all the best to one of Accy's best ex players made good.
One other technicality, the first goal originally credited to Brett was eventually credited as an own goal by Dabizas. So he only scored once. |
Re: Have i missed something Brett
He is meant to be signing for 250k for Wigan at the end of the season
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
Just a quick note to offer Outback Ozzy my warmest congratulations on Wigan's elevation to the Premiership !
And I think that they'll stay there , as Wigan undertakes its remarkable transformation from (pardon my politically incorrect terminology) a rugger town to a soccer town ! |
Re: Have i missed something Brett
...and to think, 27 years ago Wigan were just another Northern small town, non-league side. Makes you realise just what the power of hopes and dreams can do...along with the odd £75 million or so!

Re: Have i missed something Brett
I met Bretts sister in Kettering on Saturday. she lives in ozzy but is a kettering fan. just a bit of useless info for you
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
are wigan still interested in signing Brett??? does any1 know?
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
They'd be daft not to be interested and I'm sure Brett would like to come back up north
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
They Wont Even Need Him Now , There In The Premiership And Have 30 Mil To Spend

. . . but not to throw away. That's why they need to have players like Ormerod on their books at the beginning of next season ; still fit and ambitious, keen to play for the first team every week , loyal to their club , and - above all - with flexible contractual arrangements which don't put a great strain on the player/club relationship. As I said earlier on in this thread, this is where the good agent earns his corn. |
Re: Have i missed something Brett
Firstly Henry - I am Accrington born and bred and will always follow Accrington Stanley, although living in Wigan, I do like to see them win except on the 6th August. My heart will always be with the reds no matter what. If it comes to a choice between the JJB and the IES - then the IES wins hands down. Who needs Chelsea, Man U Liverpool et al when we can play the likes of Hereford, Aldershot and the like. Maybe in 27 years we will be playing top flight football.
Secondly, to answer previous posts re Brett, Paul Jewell (according to the local rag) is still keen to sign him from Southampton and considering they recalled him but have not played him, I think he will move in the summer and could end up playing against us on August 6th. I will be bringing 3 Wigan fans on that day, but will consign them all to the cow shed while I sing my heart out for the mighty reds. Congratulations to E.W. for getting this game and the Preston and Burnley ones as well |
Re: Have i missed something Brett
its simply a measure of the stature of the club now
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
I just can't see past the grass slope with the bus stop type thing on top as the away end at Wigan.. No terrace. No barriers. Just a grass slope..
|
Re: Have i missed something Brett
Oh dear Kipax you must be thinking Springfield Park. The JJB is now an impressive stadium that will hold 25,000 + (although I don't know how you get any extra in without breaking fire and safety regs). the only thing is that after the game, the roads around Wigan are a car park, another reason why I support the mighty reds, I can get home after the match without going through the centre of a major shopping area of the town

Re: Have i missed something Brett
Of course thats what I am talking about.. but thats my first memory of the pie munchers..
I have been in the JJB at a FULL HOUSE game with over 25 thousand.. Just recently... Pics here http://kipax.fotopic.net/c476628.html |
Re: Have i missed something Brett
Id Love To See Stanley Hammer Wigan At The JJB , Its To Easy At The Interlink !!!;)

Re: Have i missed something Brett
well brett started today for southampton and had a very good game until he started to cramp up with fifteen minutes to go.
With southampton getting relegated and with the likely possibility of kivin phillips leaving and henry camera returning to celtic, brett may very well be first choice up front with peter crouch next season, although southampton will do well to keep hold of crouch as well. with this in mind is he now likely to stay at southampton and get games or sit on the bench behind nathan ellington and roberts at wigan. todays premiership results certainly might have some rammifications on bretts future. |
