Doesn't have to be your garden, I don't think people would like it if I put one of mine up, not much interest in block paving :D

Re: Photo Competition 19

Why not have a competition where it has got to be the members own personal garden ?

Margaret Pilkington 06-08-2007 16:35

Re: Photo Competition 19

well, that may cut down on the entries because some of us do not have gardens. The subject of the competition is usually chosen by the previous winner, and most of us realise that the subject needs to be fairly flexible so that people who do not live in this country can participate......Like 'Lancashire Waterways' would be no good to the ex pats who live in far flung areas. I hope that makes sense whistler.

Don't know how people can resist voting, the photos are so lovely.

As an aside (hope not wandering Mick) .. did you see the lovely piccie in the Observer of a back yard in Burnley Road that had been transformed by the lady resident into a floral paradise with planters climbers, etc.. beautiful. Please note Lancs Yorkee a yard here is an area of high walls and flag floors .. not a garden... :D

Seems some students from Myerscough College had converted a yard in India street into a 'peaceful haven' to inspire people to make use of their back yards, which in turn inspired this lady. What a lovely idea.

Re: Photo Competition 19

Hello All,

I'm sorry that I wasn't able to join in with this competition even though it was my choice of subject. As per normal, my internet connection went belly up on the Sunday when I won!! I had to ring my daughter in England to ask her how I did! Thankfully, a mate of mine let me use his computer, briefly, so that I could choose a subject.

It came back on this evening and I was able to check out the pics. They are so good it was hard to pick one to vote for. Well done everyone and thanks for voting for me last time.

June xx

Re: Photo Competition 19

Wow, thanks very much:)

These were my first ever entries with a digital camera. I entered the three of my backyard with the Buddah, and read last week that you could enter four photograph, so when the sun came out last week, took the Enchanment lillies which had just come out by my front door.

I did actually take two photographs, but could only enter one, so I'm happy I seem to have chosen the right one.

It was worth the effort of kneeling on the cold flags, and trying to stop the camera shaking too much.:D
