Taxi Rank
Did anybody spot the article in the Observer about the taxi rank on Holme St not being big enough ?
Apparently they are thinking of creating a new rank at the corner of Abbey St & Water St.
It must be the longest taxi rank in the world, has anyone ever seen it full

Re: Taxi Rank
Well I for one, hope they spend more time parked in it, rather than constantly being in my way when I am trying to get about my work, I am about fed up of being cut up, finding a cab parked in the street when you go round a corner, and listening to them pip thier horn at all hours because they are too lazy to knock on peoples doors. Sorry, rant over, could have done this in what annoys you thread, but this one looked lonely. lol

Re: Taxi Rank
Not big enough?! Does anyone actually use it apart from after a night out. You can go past there any time of day and its always the same cars in the same order. I have never seen anyone get in a a taxi there. Why bother when cb is just across the road? I hate taxi ranks they are so pointless.

Re: Taxi Rank
We get a taxi from there when we've been to town and need to get all the shopping back. In fact, I think its the only place in Accrington that you can just walk to and get a Black Cab pretty much straight away.

You can't be very observant. They come and go all the time. I've been there at times when there haven't even been any taxis and you have to wait for one to arrive but you never have to wait long. There are two places me and the kids get a taxi from in town - where you can just walk up and get into one. One is Holme Street, the other is Union Street. I find them both very handy.

Re: Taxi Rank
Whenever i walk past the drivers are all just stood around chatting, walk past again an hour or so later and they are still stood there chatting. Personally i dont get taxis from ranks i prefer to go to the office or phone the office. Just cant really see the point of the ranks when there are taxi offices in town, that aint exactly far from the rank.

possibly the point is when folk have got a cartload of shopping its nearer than the offices. plus are the offices big enough to house quite a few shoppers n there entourage?
