Re: Surgeries merge
Peel House was the one on Avenue Parade...they moved into Pals.(they aren't mentioned)
The Acorn Medical Centre is the one on Blackburn Road in Accrington. I'm not sure which doctors use the Acorn Medical centre, but they aren't from Peel house.

Re: Surgeries merge
A little websearch reveals two medical practices at the Acorn Centre
Dr T Manjooran & Partners, Hyndburn Medical Practice
Dr MA Sajid, Eagle Medical Practice
I visit that centre for chiropody every two months and always find the cavernous waiting area very sparsly populated by never more than 6 people.
This lavish building, with its 'community art' must be costing a bomb to lease and heat.
It looks like this latest move will be an attempt to make it more financially viable.

It is truly a wonderful building as is the Pals surgery and one day in the distant future it will be paid for.

Re: Surgeries merge
That gallery glass window must have cost a fair whack
look here -
BB5 UK - Google Maps
...and those odd bits of shaped concrete on the paved area.
There is more frivolity inside. The atrium roof light is filled with coloured streamers which block the light. They look like long strings of paper bow shapes (not crotcheted, so not really art )

More centralisation - less power for the individual! What was that on the front page of the Mail I think it was last week, that the tories are thinking about having a new central call center which we must all call to make appointments with out GPs! It will not be at our surgery - so what happens if something goes wrong? Sounds like a damned silly idea to me.

Don't know and don't really care, my docs just round the corner and you don't need appointments either

Re: Surgeries merge
Dr Manjooran was my doctor when I lived in Accy all those years ago. Looks like he has done well for himself.
