Re: Premium Bonds

We set up a direct debit for premium bonds to be bought every month and have never looked back. We had two £50 prizes in the first year and we've still got our original investment. Every time we get to £1000 we sell the lot and buy a block of consecutive bonds to make the odds of winning that bit better. It's worked a treat so far even with the reduced cash pot and we still don't have that many bonds.

It's a great way of saving because eventually you stop missing that money and it's a nice rainy day fund.

Its a shame because the once regularly won £50 prizes have been reduced and you are more likely to end up with £25....still better than nowt i suppose.

The number of prizes has gone down but the ratio in each band remains the same. It's only until we emerge from recession properly and then hopefully things will pick up a bit as more people re-invest.

They're still an excellent way to save and another trick the Post Office are missing out on by not promoting them more. Most of the younger people I know aren't even aware of what they are.
