Re: Shouldn't you be doing something else?

I REALLY shouldn't be here...... I have so much to do before the gang arrives.
It seemed like this visit was miles away....and now here it is breathing down my neck like a hungry tiger.
I have given the bathroom a good going over....steamed the tiles and the floors......tidied all the towels (we have someone in our house...not sure who it is....who always takes one from the bottom and then tries to stuff all the others back onto the shelf).
I am just in the process of tidying the little monsters toys....I think these things must breed in the night...I don't recall him having so many.
I have to find somewhere to secrete all my vinyl LP's...my music past......I keep saying that I will take them to the charity shop but hubby won't let me, I still have a turntable somewhere in the house...maybe that will turn up while i am looking for a hidey hole to put the LP's in .
I still have to dismantle all my computer gear and move the desk over to the other side of the room.......I am trying to leave that till as late as possible.......and of course I have to make up beds. Am I going to get it all done do you think.......Not if I continue to sit here on my bum talking to all of you!

I'm only here because, foolishly I thought I could do what Willow does....... a bit of work then a 'go' on the computer....but I don't think it is going to work for me....strong moral character that Willow!
I think I am probably going to have to disconnect all the computer stuff...or I'll never get finished.

Re: Shouldn't you be doing something else?

Well....I disconnected my computer...and I worked solid for 6 hours. I really knew that this was the only way anything would get done.
There was lots of grunting and groaning...in fact it reminded me of something....I know now what it was, it was LABOUR. Well, except the man of the moment didn't have any input to this little bit of work.

I have done a big move around in the room....the computer desk and all the gubbins are now at the opposite corner of the room......the sofa bed is under the window (still piled high with stuff to be shifted).......the carpet had had a good hoovering (except it was a Dyson...but Dysoning doesn't sound quite right).

The ankle biter was here for the afternoon and he desperately wanted to 'help'....and I desperately didn't want his little fingers poking into stuff that he should be touching. I have to admit i got a bit fractious at one point and told him to 'go away and find Grandad'....which he did.

The rest of the shifting can be done tomorrow.......I feel absolutely 'mashed'.
All this for 3 days!

Re: Shouldn't you be doing something else?

Well, here I am again.....not doing what I should be doing.....but having said that I think the back is broken (mine too). I was incredibly stiff and sore this morning when I woke up. I surveyed the room and deciced that there is still a lot to sort out....but I have found a hidey hole for the Vinyl LP's.
I have done a bit more shifting and now the sofa bed is opend up and lovely fresh cotton sheets are on it........I have raked the extra Duvet out of the drawers under our bed........some of the little monsters toys have been consigned to the Garage.......the put-u-up bed is now down in our front room.....but I cannot find the single Duvet that goes with it.....I have looked in all the possible places and some impossible ones too. I am thinking that perhaps i gave it to my daughter when her little one got a full size bed....so I will either have to borrow one or someone will have to make do with Blankets.
It is all looking like we are on schedule.
Who said I would never do it????????

Re: Shouldn't you be doing something else?

The rellies arrived in the early hours of Wednesday morning......like something to one. I didn't wait up, but I did hear them arrive so I got up to make them a cuppa and offer them some food and welcome them.
There had been a right MCU (monumental cock up) at Manchester airport....the flight up from Heathrow had been delayed due to bad weather conditions.......and when they got into Manchester all the domestic baggage handlers had gone home, so they waited over an hour to get the luggage offloaded and only managed to get to the Car hire place one minute before it closed.
The good thing about coming in so late was that the roads from Manchester were quiet.
The first day of their holiday in the Uk was bright and sunny and they couldn't understand what all the fuss had been about the poor summer.

They have left us now for a road trip around Scotland, Ireland (where both their families have their roots) and a little bit of Wales.
They aren't coming back to stay with us, but are going to use the caravan belonging to a member of the family.
I haven't demolished the bed though....just in case.
All that work for 3 nights!
