Re: Vimto

So to the orginally posted question. I LOVE vimto, but I live in California where it is only available from importers. I have found my guy and pay about $6 a bottle - about 5 quid at current...

Re: BBC Frontpage again!

Its been 25 years, and the area looks like its been cleared since then. But it was in those trees, when they were a lot smaller.

Re: BBC Frontpage again!

I went to Peel Park between 1979 and 1983. At some point we did some digging and found a large concrete piece of what looked like a stanley crest in the trees that were at the Peel Park Pub side of...

Re: Water or Coke?

Living in the USA, Vimto is my guilty pleasure - costs me $5.65 for a small bottle of cordial (that has GBP1.35 on the label). And its worth every penny.

Re: Anyone know someone who attended the 1958 game

My dad was there, and he still has the match programme. - v Portsmouth. He also went to Portsmouth's 5th Round match which saw them get beat by Burnley.

Re: no smoking in pubs.

I for one, as a non smoker, love smoke free pubs. That being said, I would like to see the free market take care of it. If there was a choice of non smoking pubs, I would be there, but I don't...

Does he/she need a basic grasp of of punctuation in order to rip someone else for their lack of spelling ability?

Re: So who do u tip??

Nothing wrong with it at all. My point was I had become used to the level of service I get in the US.

Re: So who do u tip??

If you are trying to be smart - at least get it right. The quote is "FIFTH grade". That would be funny, as Jethro was 18 but had to be in class with 11 year olds. 12th grade is 2nd year at sixth...

Re: So who do u tip??

I'm sure that was rather difficult to type at 3am while drunk off your head after a quality night at the Hope and Anchor. I appreciate Polly who can structure a logical argument to a discourse even...

Re: So who do u tip??

Welcome to communism.

The question is ABSOLUTELY is the level of service better. That is how economics works. The free market dictates where people want to spend their money, and the darwinism...

Re: So who do u tip??

I should think that service staff should be reliant on giving good service for their survival. Good service = bigger tips. No worker should be "given" anything, it should be earned. My mate the...

any man who is over 30 and not a Conservative has no brains.

Re: So who do u tip??

Tipping is an integral part of the US service culture. It is assumed, for tax purposes, that wait staff will get at least 8%, and are taxed accordingly. Most service industry staff make minimum...

Re: "Silly Cow" Clr Britcliffe

I got sick while I was attending a wedding in England. I was prescribed a ventolin inhaler which I paid for, and submitted my insurance paperwork to the doctor's office so that they could claim back...

Re: "Silly Cow" Clr Britcliffe

As an Accringtonian in California who deals with the US healthcare system on a daily basis, I can sum it up as thus.

If you have a job, with health benefits, you are pretty well set. (Although the...

Re: Tories "work for benifits" scheme

My apologies, I understand with the clarification. I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment. The "dole jobs" should be a purely temporary situation which would encourage people to see out a "real"...

Re: Tories "work for benifits" scheme

You kind of contradict yourself by saying that you don't want paid work taking someone's job, but if dole work were a 'REAL' job thats exactly what you would create. By creating community service...

Re: Tories "work for benifits" scheme

I agree with you. When I emigrated to the USA, both my sponsor and I had to sign an agreement that said that I would not attempt to claim benefits or obtain assistance from the state.

Re: Tories "work for benifits" scheme

What's not enough to live on? Without sounding like a heartless ass, £5.52 an hour is certainly above poverty wages. How long does said person that "can't find a job" given to look while being...

Re: Tories "work for benifits" scheme

You don't need to make them work. But you don't have to pay them benefits either. I live in California, and our unemployment benefit is like a savings account - you have to earn it before you get...
