Re: Starmer and the -erm syndrome

President Trump admired Starmer's English accent. Remember he is a guy from Queens, NY.
On the other hand I listened to his spoken words complete with six or seven "-erms" per sentence. I came to...

Re: Starmer and the -erm syndrome

Just watch any segment where he is speaking in free form. It is incredible how many false pauses he fills with "-erm". Very poor public speaking IMHO

Starmer and the -erm syndrome

When the British press publishes a transcript of a Keir Starmer speech, do they include all the times he says "-erm"?
Because, by my count, he says "-erm" about every third word.
You could create a...

Like Monty Python's Brave Sir Robin
I feel like.....
Packing it in and packing it up
And sneaking away and buggering off
And chickening out and ****ing off home,
Yes, bravely he is throwing in...

Re: Christmas 2024

Dearest Margaret,
Sorry for your struggle and your loss.
Carry on fighting the good fights.
Somebody has to.
And when someone like you fights on, others will surely follow.
Only those of our...

Re: The Reform Party

Apparently it is run by Nigel Farage.
From what I read they are tagged as the real opposition to Labor.
It was the more subscriptions than the Tories comment that surprised me.

The Reform Party

I read today that the newest political party in Britain, The Reform Party, now has more members or subscribers than the Tory Party.
Well I never!
Who saw that coming?

Uninvited Starm Troopers

We were recently invaded by uninvited Starm Troopers here on a mission to help elect Cackling Kamala. That, by definition, is clearly election interference even though it failed miserably.

OK people are starting to wake up, or so it would seem.
Here on this side of the pond I have seen very little positive said about the "NEW" Labor Government. On the other hand there has been a lot...

Re: Accrington Victoria hospital

I remember fondly Accrington Victoria Hospital where my appendix was removed when I was eight years old. I also had several broken bones set there during my misspent youth.
One of my most vivid...

It could be worse. You could be like France.

Equally bewildering, if not more so is the situation in France.
Watching the pending French election, admittedly from afar and with only a casual interest, I understood there was about to be a...

Re: Math of the Labour Landslide

I am not sure I have a grasp on this "First Past the Post" system other than to leap to the conclusion that it is probably a scam!
Here in the US they have sprung something called "Ranked Choice...

Math of the Labour Landslide

This Labour “landslide” victory is based on some odd math.
The unassailable Labour majority in Parliament received the votes of only 34% of those who voted. In fact only 60 percent of eligible...

So my seven year old Grandson asks me "Grandad can you explain Rugby to me?"
No problem says I. I played rugby for 4 years at Accrington Grammar School.
I explain the positions and the playing...

The First Family Car

Our family did not possess a car until 1956. Post WWII and public transportation was convenient, affordable and frequent. Then my dad bought a 1936 Ford 10. That's right. 1936. Imagine that. I...

Re: Suella Braverman

Watching this play out from a distance (USA) I am reminded of the "Yes Minister" TV series but without the humor and with less that half of the intelligence.
