Hi Bob yes it was a mangle, I believe it was the rollers that were different they were made out of wood, unusual considering he was a blacksmith, also I think in America it was called a ringer.

Hi Dotti can you remember bath nights !!! Who went in first adults or children and did they use the cloths horse as a privacy screen. I've head the saying ( don't throw the baby out in the bath...

It was the coal and Iron Age of eighteenth and nineteenth century Britton, there would have been soot in the air pretty much all the time.

Thanks Margaret that's exactly what I was hoping for, have you ever heard of Hardin it was a Victorian cloth I think and used as a oven cloth. None of my customers have heard of it.
