Chifuwan….Mrs Duxbury was my mum.
She was caretaker of the school until December 1991 when she retired.
She received the British Empire Medal for her work in education.
Alas, she died in 2018 at...

Thank you for the picture Philip.......None of those faces are familiar either.
I do not remember very much about infant school...my only memory is getting to school a few minutes late and finding...

Those children are of my era, but I can't say I remember any of them.
I went to Woodnook infants...a stride or two further up the hill.

Ma did work at Highams but in the weaving shed.......opposite shift to my dad.
I don't recall her working in the sewing room....in fact I am pretty sure she didn't......Ma is to sewing, what Bernard...

Mrs Duxbury was the caretaker..though she may have done the dinner lady thing too.

I was speaking with my Ma today and she confirms that the school doubled as a sunday School, though she couldn't rememebr just when it was.
