Hi Accyexplorer Just thought you might like to know I was out detecting yesterday, only the third time this year due to the weather. Anyway I stayed local and went on the Coppice and around the lodges. At first it was just the usual Victorian pennies and half pennies I was finding. The first...

Ok You are right and I am wrong. Are you happy now Now then what are your thoughts on the hollows on the top of Moleside or the snipe hole to the east of Mitchells. I guess you know all the history about those sites as well. Also what was the flooded underground stone chamber that is at the...

    Metal Detecting (Including Finds).

Its no wonder they needed the Yanks to help out during the second world war then is it. If as you imply the British army would find a place like the Gamblers Caves in inaccessible. Now that is what I call laughable. As for access. If an horse and cart can get there then why not a truck or...

Yes thanks for that Rentlaw. I suppose the bullets could have come from the riffle range at Hapton, but there really are thousands of them up there. You seem to be very knowledgeable about the area around Greater Hameldon Hill. I was wondering if you could shed any light on a tail I was told...

    Metal Detecting (Including Finds).

Hi Rentlaw The bullets that i have been finding are to the southern side of Hameldon and the northern side above Mitchell's Reservoir. The fields are littered with bullets, there must be thousands of them. I believe that part of this area was used as a dummy air field during the second world...

    Spire farm development

i totally agree with walkinman221 and everything he says about the state of spire farm and the footpath. The perfectly good dry stone wall he mentions was about 75 yds long and 6ft high. I wouldnt like to think how much it would cost to build a wall like that these days, only an idiot would...

    Garage Compressor Wanted

I Am Looking To Buy A Good Compressor To Power A Portable Sandblaster. The Compressor Must Run At No Less Than 12cfm And Have At Least An 100 Litre Tank. If You Are Not Sure What Yours Runs At I Could Always Bring The Sandblaster To Try It With The Compressor.

    Gamblers Caves

Another piece of information about the caves is that the quarry was originally opened up soley for the purpose of building the Accrington Town Hall. After this was built the quarry was then closed down and not quarried again until it was reopened about six years ago.

    Gambler's Caves

If any of you do go up there to the Gambelers Caves be careful as the caves have been opened up again by the quarry men before they left the site and believe me they are extreamily dangerous
