quick update on this - managed to fix it myself AND it works - took 3 days and a few swear words i didnt know i knew but its finally working again! *with no gaffer tape*

its not the gaffa tape that worries me - its the person holding the gaffer tape that is usually the problem :)

unfortunately i didnt find that out until had it reduced to a bag of bits :(
