I am 60, I have never had an accident that I caused (run into the back of once), and have a totally clean licence. Bought an old car for £450 - best quote I could get for insurance was over £500!!! - how can they justify a premium more than the value of the car, for goodness sake? Whatever...

Go for it - you're hardly geriatric! - if you're nervous, learn to drive an automatic, less to think about and less to deal with, although it does mean you can't drive a manual car. You couldn't possibly be any worse than some of the idiots on the road already!

Having a long car, it has cut down considerably on the spaces I can fit into, and I now have to use about half a gallon of petrol to reach a decent sized space. The layout is total crap. Perhaps when the first head-on collision occurs, they might change it back.

William always MEANT well - it's just that it didn't turn out quite like that ..... The wonderful world of grown-ups never seemed to realise what good intentions he had and how he was thwarted along the way. I could certainly identify with that! Painting the swing comes to mind ....

I think it used to cost a shilling (5p) to visit the doctor, which was an awful lot out of little wages. The real problem with the NHS was that the funding was based on the use that people made of doctors and hospitals BEFORE it was introduced. It's not exactly rocket science to work out that...
