Many thanks for all the replies. I will be checking out all the local ones. I know where Greyhound garage is having lived next door but one to the TOP CLUB for 20 years. I know what you mean about roundabouts, I usually end-up just going round a couple of times!! That is why I want an automatic...

Jedimaster: thanks for the information about car hire. £110 per week sounds good, is that for an automatic or standard? I will check out that site.

    Car Hire In Accrington

We are hoping to come "home" in June and wondered if there was anywhere that hires cars at a reasonable price. Would prefer an automatic. We usually hire at the airport, but we only need one for part of the time we will be in Accrington. I got a couple of names from the internet but there wasn't...

    Arcs 1960s

Hi, I used to go up Knowmere St on Saturday nights, probably from 1958-1962. Usually the Knowmere St. crowd also went up Morts:down the Vic: ( in Clayton) Funny, we all had good times and (to my knowledge) never used drugs. (or knew about them) much different these days.

    Have you got one ?

I have had one for years, but it is now in a cupborad, never use it anymore. Better to start the BBQ, much better tasting food.

    Pearl House

He said he lived there with his Grandparents, and the railway ran behind the house. He said it would shake the house when a train past. Just curious as we lived in Holland Street from 1965-1976, then we came to Canada.

    Pearl House

Met a bloke in Kingston, Ontario, Canada who also came from Accrington. He said when he was young he lived at the top of Pearl Street, in a large house called PEARL HOUSE. I don't remember it, does anyone?

    Clayton history In 50s & 60s

I remember Hackings F & C, also Pillings. I think they had 2 boys Alan who would be about 62 now and a younger one. Tony Walkden did he not marry a girl named Kathleen? I can't recall the milk man, but we used to get our milk from the co-op.

    Clayton history In 50s & 60s

The Woods son that was killed flying with the RAF acrobat group was Stanley, and was actually Walt Woods brothers' son. There were two boys, and the youngest son Trevor was adopted by Bertha and Walt, but not Stanley.(He was the eldest) I knew them really well, living next door but one to the F&...

    Ex Rist Wires

Hi, My name is Marion Pettifer and live just north of Kingston Ontario. I worked at Rist Wires prior to emmigrating here in 1976. We were in Accrington in June this year, and 3 years before that. We find the UK very expensive, and the price of houses are unbelieveable, how young people can...
