A birthday ditty

Margaret Pilkington

Beacon of light
Overlooker
Today is my birthday...
I've reached Seventy Two.
I'm feeling just fine....
How about you ?
My knees do get creaky,
That's age...very sneaky
In winter the pipes freeze
And sometimes get leaky.
But I can't complain
When all's said and done
It could be much worse....
And life is still fun.
I can still climb the stairs
Without losing my breath.....
My mind is still sharp....
Dementia scares me to death.
Not too many wrinkles
A bit of grey hair.....
They're called 'wisdom highlights
I don't mind that they're there.
The worrying thing...
It sounds a bit dumb....
I think I might be turning into my MUM!

I wrote this ditty on my birthday.

Margaret, happy belated birthday. I am so sorry I missed the day but my good wishes for you are very sincere - and here's hoping for many more birthdays for you. Have a great year. xxxxx

Thank you Dorothy.
Birthdays mean less and less.
It seems like the cables on the cake do not get time to get cold before another one is arriving.

I feel lucky to be where I am and feel relatively fit.
Ok the odd creaky joint, but nothing at all to grumble about....and much more to be thankful for.
