I have never been entirely sure how you can get 'knackered' taking the sea air, lifting a soup spoon, putting copper coins into the machines....or maybe it was the chattering that tired Ma out.
When we got back to our room, Ma asked me to put the TV on 'while I was on my feet'....which I wasn't...I was sat on the bed.
When I pointed this out to her she replied by saying that I would be on my feet if I put the TV on. What excellent logic.

I did as I was asked and Ma was in her usual late afternoon position(lying on the bed)........she was watching whatever program was being projected onto the back of her eyelids.

I went and had a lovely hot shower........put moisturizer on all over and then relaxed for a while.
Ma opened one eye and asked if I had noticed what was for the evening meal.
Which I hadn't.......She asked if I could smell anything cooking.....I couldn't.
So she spent the next hour wondering what we were having for dinner.

Eventually she stirred her stumps and went for a wash and brush up......rummaged in her suitcase(she still hadn't unpacked) and pulled out(by braille) a very pretty silvery coloured blouse, to go with her grey trousers.......and miraculously managed to pull out a matching scarf(again by braille......I wonder if she taught Paul Daniels all he knows).
Getting dressed for Ma is a bit of a trial......her arms are quite weak and she really does struggle to get her arms up to shoulder height......there was much puffing and panting as she started to get changed........it was mean to watch her struggle so I went and gave her a hand.

Soon, Ma was looking pretty as a picture(in a wrinkled sort of way)......she applied her eyeliner(82, and still putting on the tutti) and asked me if I had a squirt of perfume to hand...having put hers back in the case.
(Ma tells me that her perfume seems to last 'forever'...yes well it does when you use someone elses).
I gave her a quick squirt of Oscar de la Renta and we were ready for the off.

I ran down the stairs while Ma went down to the bottom floor in the lift.
Tonight we did not need to wait for the Maitre D......we knew which table we were at and made our way there.
I looked at the Menu.......Ma opted for Cheesy potato Fritters...I chose Tomato soup(it was funny as I had been saying I fancied some tomato soup).......We did'nt fancy any of the main course dishes......so we chose a Roast Ham Salad.
My beef salad the previous evening had been delicious, and I had no reason to suspect that the Ham salad would be any less enjoyable.

What I hadn't noticed was the word 'smoked' in front of the word ham.
I hate smoked food.......and so was very disappointed when I tasted what looked like succulent roast meat.....yuck......I couldn't eat it.
Ma had chosen the same......was given a hefty portion and was trying to get me to eat some of her dinner to make the plate look respectable......but I couldn't eat what was on my plate.

The waitress taking our plates away, asked if we had not enjoyed the food......I lied and said the food was lovely, but we had spoilt our appetite by having a large and late lunch.
I could feel my nose growing!
Because I had said this, it meant I could hardly ask for a dessert.
But Ma had the Dutch Apple Pie......she didn't like that much either.....it had raisins and cinnamon in it...both things she doesn't care for.
So dinner was not a great success.....not because the food was horrible, just down to our perverse personal tastes.

We wouldn't starve.......I had some cake in the room....so we had coffee and cake sitting in our room watching the dusk fall.

Ma was out for the count pretty soon after that.....I read for a while.
The sea air had got to me too.....my eyelids were getting heavy...goodnight, see you in the morning!

Another laught out loud read, especially at 'tutti', and the ever lasting perfume.

:D

Glad it made you chuckle G.
We laugh an awful lot when we go away, sometimes when i come back and think about what we laughed at it doesn't seem that funny......it was, sort of...'of the moment'....you know the kind of thing, when your giggle muscles is tickled and you find everything funny.
