Another mum update

Mick

Resting in Peace
Overlooker
Right went over to Chorley Hospital yesterday for a meeting with the Doc, Nurses, Social worker and physio (she did not turn up)to see how to progress with mum .
according to the doc she is medically fit.
By this they mean they have got rid of the infections
She still has lung problems brought on my having TB when she was young.
The other problem is her oxygen levels.
Most people can take 1 liter to 1 1/2 liter per min but mum can only manage 1/2 liter
which means she will need to keep the mask on most of the time if she takes it off or it gets knocked off her oxygen levels fall very quick and she gets confused.
so in other words she is going to need 24 hour care for a while.
to this end the social worker has given us a list of homes to go through and check out she will go into one of these on a 2 week basis and her progress reviewed then.
and we will see how things go from there.
so all that said David dropped me off at the side entrance to Preston station (you really need to know the layout of the station for this bit)
my train back is either the Colne train which stops at all stations from Preston to Colne or the York train which only stops at Blackburn then Accrington from Platform 2
As i said i entered the station from the side entrance walked along the bridge down the steps passed the main entrance up the next bridge to platform 2 while walking across this bridge i noticed the Colne train was already in so got to the other side and was just going down the steps when this train pulled out.
looking on the arrival display it said the york train was due in in 8 Min's so i waited for this with 7 Min's before the train was due there was a platform change it said the york train was coming in on platform 3c so its back up the steps along the bridge down the steps to platform 3 then a long walk to the very end of this platform to find platform 3c when i got there i was so out of breath i could have used a full bottle of oxygen up myself.
with 3 Min's to go there was an announcement over the tannoy that the york train was coming in on platform 2 i was already out of breath and had to get all the way back to platform 2 in 3 Min's as i was half way down platform 3 the york train pulled in on platform 2 but i still had to get over the bridge and onto the train i just made it as as i stepped on the train the doors closed and the train set off it took me till we where going through Bamber bridge before i got my breath back properly.
I really wish they could give a bit more notice of these changes as i very nearly ended up in hospital myself the conductor came round for the tickets took one look at me and asked if she needed to stop the train and get an ambulance i told her no thanks that i will be ok if i could just get my breath back she went along the train then came back to check on me.
by then we where near Blackburn and i could breath better.

glad your mum is slightly better, things are looking up....Mick, they do have lifts on Preston station you know, they go underground and would have been much easier for you to use and quicker

I try and use the subway at the far end of the platforms rather than the bridge. The subway has a slope rather than steps which is marginally less tiring.

I'm amazed there was a conductor on that train. Don't think I've ever seen one!

glad mams improved a bit mick, but yeh can wish all want to no avail, this is the railway service yer talking about.

Glad your mum is a bit better now hun, let us know what homes they have suggested, are they in Accy?

No she will be going into one in Preston not far from her home think its best as all her friends can visit

Glad your mums picking up mick, you know how scarey it is when you can't catch your breath, hope they get it sorted out soon x x
