Bread...I know it's only bread.

My day always starts with tea and toast.
Toast that is buttered with Lurpak(I have given up on the lightweigh alternatives...they won't extend my life and are not a patch on real butter) and a dollop of thick cut dark marmalade with(hopefully) lots of peel in it.
I have just one slice off a large Marks and Spencers white farmhouse loaf.
I used to only eat wholemeal bread, but after having had a bad bout of bronchitis some years ago...i found that this no longer agreed with me..it made me cough even when I was well.

The only time I deviate from this routine is if I am away...in an establishment that does a 'full English'....then I have that AND toast(though it is not the M&S bread.

It isn't really that much to ask is it?
Since all this idiot panic buying started I have not been able to get this bread easily.
The other thing is the nearest M&S is in Blackburn and I really do hate going there.
It takes me a couple of days to psych myself up to go.....I go with no joy in my sould...leaden feet and usually(until recently) on the bus.
I hare up to M&S go straight to the food hall and to the shelf where small quantities of this bread lurk.
Many times recently I have been sorely disappointed...there has been none.

So it was this morning I did a slice of toast with bread from M&S...but not Farmhouse..it was half a bloomer loaf...(the biggest bloomer was ME buying it thinking it would suffice).
What a disappointment.
It was just like eating buttered cardboard...I did not enjoy it one little bit.
I was prepared to...really I was, but it fell so far short of my expectations that if we light the log burner tonight, that is where it will go.
How I hate wasting bread.
My mother always said 'waste bread and you will live to be hungry'.
so tomorrow I might just have to rely on weetabix.
(yes. yes....I know all this is teenage and petulant....but when I looked in the back of my knickers it said 14...so I am allowed.
I also know that I have a lot to be grateful for.
feeling grateful whe you feel spiky is very hard...but I will go away and try some more)

I woke up 'spiky' this morning..I know I should have let him sleep.
(the old ones are the best..and that one has whiskers like Methuselah).
the reason I woke up spiky...well I think it might be the reason....I watched A&E 24/7 last night and when I watch something like that I invariably dream about being back at work...and true to form I did.
It was the shift from hell.
Yesterday I had been posting on a thread about a condition called Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation....and said that in my long career I had only seen it twice.
Well what do you know...on my shift last night we got a patient with this.....we needed fresh frozen plasma and because of the virus we could not get any...I was trying to get staff to donate(what a daft thought that was)...but no-one was up for it.
when I woke up we were still fighting to stabilise this young pregnant lass...and it all felt real...so I was frazzled.

I think I need to go off somewhere quiet and do some 'OM'-ing.
