Calling Mrs Overall......!

I have been up to visit Ma each day since she came home. This is nothing new, because prior to her enforced stay at the RBH holiday camp, I went up to see her each weekday....just to check on how she was.
I also phone her everyday too...sometime two or three times.
But since she came out of hospital with a great bagful of new pills, new rules and regulations by which to live her life, I have been even more vigilant.

Yesterday i went up, ran the vacuum over the best bit of brussels, made her bed......did a bit of damp dusting.....took the shopping up with a home cooked meal.....all fresh veggies and a home made meat and onion pie(low salt version).

I also collected her mobile phone. This was her birthday present last birthday....she agreed she would have one, but it has stood idly on the sideboard in the living room...not the role I had planned for it.
as a result of this the credit had been absorbed by Vodafone.
I went and put a tenner on it, foolishly thinking this was all that was required.
Anyway, when I checked the phone told me that she had 'No credit'.
I tried all the usual things...switched it off took the battery and sim out and put them back in again, but still the message was the same.
I hoofed it into town to the vodafone shop......placed the phone into the hands of Wayne.....he told me that when the sim goes dormant it takes the money and you cannot put credit on the phone.
The phone would have to have a new sim....and he would put the tenner on it for me.
So this is what he did(thank you Wayne).

This morning I have been up to see Ma again...take her a merino wool mattress topper. Her skin is going to be much more susceptible to damage now so the softest bedding is what she needs.

If she does get any grazes, abrasions or cuts, they will take longer to heal as her circulation is compromised to a degree.

So this morning, I stripped her bed and put the mattress topper on and then remade it again...it looked really comfortable...I could have got in it myself and gone asleep.
I vacuumed her bedroom and the landing...the mattress topper had shed some litle bits of wooly fluff.

While I was at Ma's Age Concern rang and asked if we would like them to visit and outline what service Ma was able to get....and to see what she needed.
I told her that we are pretty much sorted.....that I seem to have everything under control.....I was in charge of the shopping, the laundry, the cooking and was going to be calling myself Mrs Overall....care agency.....the girl laughed and said she wished all her referrals were so simple.
When I left Ma today she was having a bit of a doss....she said that listening to me with the vacuum had made her feel tired! :D:D:D

I'm so glad to hear that your Ma is felling better and is at home, Margaret. You have the situation well in hand, but don't forget to look after yourself too.

Yes, that is very good advice.....and it something which Ma is always telling me to do.
While Ma was in hospital I slept really badly, I have been catching up a bit since she came home.
Ma looks a lot more relaxed at home.....she is sleeping better and following the rules of her new 'normal'.
