Done and dusted!

As always we fret and sweat about Christmas...we worry about whether we have got everything sorted...whether we have enough bread, whether the turkey will thaw out in time and we won't poison anyone, whether the gravy will be free of lumps(unlike life), whether everyone will love what gifts you have bought for the family.
We hope that everyone will get on(not all families are full of the joys of Christmas)...and sometimes though they promise a feud will be forgotten a word out of place combined with alcohol will bring it bubbling to the surface.

For weeks magazines have been telling us how to make Christmas 'Perfect'...there is NO SUCH THING.
We have high expectations and these can lead us to being disappointed.

I hope yours was everything you hoped it would be.
If it wasn't, then you can hope that next year will be better.

For me this Christmas was the most relaxed it has ever been.
I did not feel compelled to follow the Turkey and stuffing tribe.I did not spend all my day slaving over a hot stove.
I did not bother with sharpened elbows in the hope of getting a Christmas bargain at the shops over the weekend...in fact, I have not ventured out of the house since Friday.

I figured that I had got everything we needed and if there was anything I had missed, we would manage just fine without it.

I did not rise until 9.30 on Christmas morning(never heard of before)...I lounged about for most of the day.
Steak and salad can be thrown together in half an hour.
We had home made Sausage rolls, soup and a roast beef butty(the remains of Sundays Roast) for lunch.
We pleased ourselves.
We had a short visit to daughters house to
distribute the gifts....I took a trip to see Ma and then that was it.
It was different from every other Christmas we
have had.
I read my Christmas books, I did a bit of surfing the web....and that was it.

Anyway, now Christmas is done and dusted.

That sounds like the sort of Christmas that IS just about 'perfect' to my way of thinking. Well done!

Yes, Dotti, it was a 9/10 Christmas.
The only way it could have been bettered was if I could have persuaded Ma to join us for dinner...but practical difficulties prevent this.
We ensured she got a plate of hot food to sit down to, and some goodies for afters...and she said she enjoys the day to herself.
Sharing it with her little dog is as much as she asks for.

Pleasing ourselves meant that we knew that at least two people were happy...US!

Cashy this year I did money.
Some vouchers have quite a short expiry time on them...this is not always indicated at the time you buy them.
It is a bummer to choose so,etching you like and then find that your voucher expired two days earlier(that happened to me...so now if I buy vouchers I ask how long the expiry is)

Best way really, do what pleases yourselves instead of some idealised unobtainable fantasy. Now roll on 2018! :)
