At around two am this morning, whilst talking to Tinks, l was booted out of the chatroom and couldn't reconnect to the internet.
I tried desparately for about half an hour. I couldn't just leave like that. You have to say goodbye for at least half an hour, and do lots of this-
see you

We are not having an affair, these are just the rules of chatting. I ended up having to text her in the early hours of the morning, so she wouldn't think I'd had a funny turn.
She texted back, byeeeeee, c ya tomoz hun xxx
I somehow managed to go to sleep, thinking to myself everything will be fine in the morning. It wasn't.
Before breakfast, coffee or even a cigarette, I tried to reconnect. No joy. There was only one thing to do, phone my pc support helpline- Mick.
He kindly offered his advice, and suggested it was probably my broadband server Tiscali, and that I should call them to see if there was a problem, if it wasn't he'd come round later. What a star.
My national rate call was of course answered in India, by a very cheery young man. He said there was probably a fault with Tiscalia, and if the two green lights were on on the modem, it wasn't my pc. He said it should be up again within 24 hours. It didn't fill me with confidence.
24 hours? From when? Now? Last night? I was getting a bit fraught. I needed my fix.
Then I remembered I stupidly hadn't cancelled my dial up server and my old lap top was still upstairs.
In the two or so months I'd had broadband and my new computer, I'd forgotton how to set it up and connect it. That seems a bit weird after the hundreds if not thousands of hours I'd spent on it.
Long story/short, I'm back, on dial up, but I'm here.
I felt as if I'd lost an important bodily function when I couldn't log on. If there is ever a power strike I don't know what I'd do, it was bad enough when my phone line was off for a few days in the Spring.
Anyway, I'm here. Though I will be still checking my broadband connection every twenty minutes or so, as this seems so slow, and I will probably smoke more as I wait for the pages to load.
Going now.
No really.
