Easter Sunday Dinner.

Ma was too dozy to get changed, she just had a cat lick and we went off in search of the dining room.
Ma went in the lift and I followed the smell of food.

Being our first night in this establishment, we had to wait for the Maitre D to come and greet us and show us to our table.

We were soon seated by the window looking at the menu.
I felt sure that with it being Easter there would be Lamb and of course Salmon....and yes, both of those were there.
We looked at the starters. Ma opted for Mushroom and Lentil soup, while I chose the Beef Consomme with diced vegetables, but there was an option for Smoked Haddock and Spring Onion fishcake with Sauce tartare, or Melon Boats with a hint of Ginger.

Ma wasn't that impressed with the soup, she said it didn't taste of either mushroom or lentil....to me that would be a bonus as I am not keen on either of those ingredients.
My consomme was delicious, I could taste sherry in it.......I could have happily eaten another bowl full.

Main course...it was silver service. Ma chose the Lamb........I couldn't find a choice of hot meal that really tickled my fancy....I can't eat Lamb or Salmon, and the other options were honey baked Chicken, or Stir fry Vegetables with sweet and sour sauce on a bed of egg noodles......we had had chicken and stuffing sandwiches for lunch so I didn't want chicken again(didn't want to be seen clawing the ground for worms:)).......and stir Fry Veggies.......NO, not for me.

I decided I would have a roast fore-rib of beef salad........I could not believe the amount of roast beef on my plate...slightly pink and succulent.....with a great mound of salad and coleslaw, potato salad and new potatoes too.
I really enjoyed it.
Ma enjoyed her lamb dinner as she could choose to have just a small portion.

Pudding......there was no contest here.....I was having syrup sponge and custard.
Little individual syrup puds with a little cup of custard for you to pour out for yourself.
Ma had cheese and biscuits, which came with grapes and celery too.

I have to say that I was impressed with the quality of the food and also the quantity....there was a chap on a table near us and he couldn't decide what to have for sweet so he chose three out of the four options and he got them.
Now, that is what I call greedy!

There was some sort of entertainment on in the bar area, but we didn't stay for that.....we went on up to our room and got settled for the night.
Ma was changed into her nightie in quick time and before long was serenading me with a few zzzzzz's.

I sat at the window watching the ships in the channel, and the fishing boats.......I was tired too, so it wasn't long before I was tucked up in my lovely double bed......listening to the sound of waves on the beach......what a lovely way to drift off to sleep.
I am envious of those folk who live by the sea, for this reason alone, they have the most natural sound to listen to...it is almost the heartbeat of the world.
