It's strange. I can't put my finger on what has changed within me, but something definitely has.
January 2004- moved back to Oswaldtwistle. March 2004-start new job. April- 2004 am told l have Parkinson's Disease and will never work again. January 2005- turn 40. July- 2005 eventually stop being mard and get my life back on track.
I do think as well as having to get used to the physical side, the drugs l was on weren't helping me to accept things. For four months l was sick three times a day, once in the middle of Marks and Spencers. l would go for days without sleeping a wink, once for four days AND nights. When l first moved into my house last summer l was seeing rats and insects running up my walls. The old man who sat in a chair and shouted at me? Well thankfully he only appeared once. although he was so vivid l could do a photo fit of him.
The new drugs still make me feel a bit woozey when l've first taken them, but l am sleeping some of each night, so the days are broken, and l wake rested.
The more subtle change is in how l feel about myself. l can't say it's good [although it is.] I feel like the old me. Confident, l suppose. The same me who went off round the world by myself the summer l was seventeen. The same me who changed people's opinions about things, once they had taken the time to get to know me, and not be blinded by stereotypes.
Watch out world Rindy's back.
I have no clear plan about what l am going to do, although plans are underfoot at the moment to do something to give of myself rather than keep taking. I just know that feeling like l do again, I can take on anything or anyone and win.
AND IT FEELS GOOD!
