Friendlies....

Watched about half of it on the Sheffield Wednesday Ifollow. Had to pay twice before I got access. What I saw of the first half seemed to be a lot of passing with no end product. The commentator reckoned Wednesday had the better of it. The last quarter was very entertaining with a great swerving freekick from Henderson and I thought Stanley were noticeably the better side for much of the second half. Apart from the finishing it was hard to tell which wasn't the League One side. Matthews almost had his shirt torn off his front. The pushing and shoving led to slightly ugly scenes but fortunately no one got sent off. The Wednesday fans are very underwhelmed by the signing of the match goalkeeper Trueman but he did well from what I saw apart from one misunderstanding.

Thought it was a good game with stanley bossing most of the first half and in control of the 2nd half ,would have beena travesty if Wednesday won ! Wednesday fans were chanting we've got the ball after a spell of possession for stanley . Looking good for the season a head... 2003 watched from the stands which included 1363 Wednesday fans :)

Yes it was a good game. With more accuracy in their shooting Stanley would have won. Augurs well for the season provided the squad remains intact through the transfer window. Apart from Burstow and Cooper that was Wednesday's second string and Reece James was on trial for a return to the club. But due to last season's paper thin squad the likes of Weaver, Thornton and Grainger all had Championship experience. Wednesday's so called first eleven were comprehensively beaten 0-4 later at Oldham. Oldham's goals were excellent especially the shot from their number 30 - trialist. After the two games yesterday there are plenty of calls for the manager's head. Wednesday's new owners have kept faith with him despite his underwhelming managerial record.
