I received a phone call from the Accrington Observer. They had received a press release from Britcliffe about the Panopticon. It got me worked up which is ridiculous really because I knew all along that he would do it.
I got stressed about it but really I should have seen it as a huge compliment that these are the lengths he's having to go to. It's badly written, lies and almost slanderous. I spoke at length to the reporter 'off the record' and persuaded him that it was the most ridiculous piece ever. However, he then spoke to the editor and he's decided to use it on the letters page after all.
I spoke to Doreen and Graham about it and they persuaded me that it was just the actions of a desperate man and that it makes him look ridiculous. I've started to draft a response for next week and Doreen's going to get a few other people to do the same. I'm also going to get a letter out to residents.
I knew it would happen and it's the only thing he can throw at me so I knew he'd use it but it is ridiculous. Anyway, I'll just carry on doing what I'm doing and let him panic all he likes.
I don't know about the Telegraph though, they might print it anyway, I'll just have to wait and sit it out.
