I've just got up, and my arms are covered in biro. It looks like next week's lottery numbers scrawled all over my forearm. It's all coming back..........I think I'd better try and start at the begining, and try and make some sense of what happened last night.
I'd arranged to go out with my very good chum that I've made through this forum. We both agreed it wouldn't be a late night, as we both had things we have to do today. He picked me up in his cab and we started off at the Black Dog, and planned to work our way down the main road in Ossy, and then go home.
The evening started off with us playing pool. I'd only ever played once before, on a lad's weekend away in Margate, when I was in London. I think my mate thought he was onto a good thing, as playing pool with someone with Parkinson's disease should be a doddle. I won both games, much to both our amazement. Bring it on!
We are both as bad as each other, and by the time we were both a little merry, we decided the original plan was rubbish, and that we should venture down Accy.
The music was banging, and we were having a good time. We'd seen a big valkyrie of a girl in an earlier bar. My little chum decided to bet me that I couldn't snog her. Well after my victory on the pool table, it seemed churlish not to rise to the challenge. I went over and explained that I wasn't trying to pick her up, but my friend said she wouldn't kiss me. I could have got a slap....... but instead got my face snogged off me in the middle of the dance floor. I remember we kissed and danced quite a bit after that.
Once the bar had closed, and everyone was outside the food places, we got chatting. She was from Hamburg, which I know quite well from when I spent a summer there working for a fashion magazine. She gave me her life story, and I gave me mine. She now manages a nursery in Accrington, after splitting up with her English soldier husband. The girls who work with her, thought we made a very odd couple, and were chokeing on their chips, as we continued our tryst in the street.
We ended up borrowing a pen from the guy in the take away, and her and her friends wrote her telephone numbers all over my arm. I went back to my pals house for a natter, and got home just before five. Not the early night that was originally planned.
All the numbers on my arm don't make much sense this morning. I think we were just ships that passed in the night. One a German one, and the other British, which is quite fitting I suppose for Armistice day.
All in all, a very good night out.
