First time we've canvassed in good weather - not exactly warm but at least it was dry.
I was in charge of the sheets - big mistake! Even though I know the area like the back of my hand I ended up marking the wrong streets sheet - I was marking Catlow Hall Street when we were on Lord Street. Realised pretty quickly and got it sorted out. Felt a bit daft but hey, what the heck. Wouldn't mind but I knew where we were and had actually said to David 'right, we're on Lord St now' then went and marked up the wrong sheet.
Fortunately, able to sort it out and have a laugh about it.
Didn't get one negative response! In fact, the closest we got to negative was the bloke who asked if we were planning on sending any leaflets around - I've done about seven so far and I'm fairly sure that he's had them because I've done those streets personally every time. People obviously get too much junk mail these days and don't read things that come through their door. Major problem and I'm not sure how to get over it, fortunately everyone else has the same problem. We're not so bad in the Labour party though because we have the strength to do all this canvasing.
I'm now getting worried that it's all a bit too certain and that people will believe I'll win then won't turn out. Of course, the Conservatives will turn out and the seat will be held.
The Community Wardens are definitely winning the votes though! Just hope people turn up on the day.
