Hallelujah!

Beacon of light
Overlooker
I would have to delegate the investigation of why there was a light on at Ma's place to someone else.

That someone else would have to be himself.
That made sense anyway.
Had I gone up there on my own and found squatters in the house...or burglars, I would have been at risk.

Now, anyone who has read my blogs will know that my other half does not do well with drama's.
I suggested that he asked son in law to go along with him for moral support.

So I sweated at home fearing the worst and they set off to see what was going on at the house.

It all felt too much and I was as close to tears of despair as I have been since trying to,organise a place to take Ma's mortal remains.
I could not remember breaking a mirror.

There was no call from the solicitors.
But there was a call from the house.
All was well, the light was switched on on the long landing, but no other lights were on.
Doors were secure and nothing was amiss.
I heaved a huge sigh of relief to hear that.

I could not account for the landing light being on.
The only thing I could think was that it had been switched on by the man who came to do the energy assessment on the house....but that was weeks ago.
Because we visit during the day.....and I only check the windows and doors that are accessible at ground level it had not been spotted.
I do not check the upstairs rooms unless there is a reason to do so.

They turned out the light and secured the house and came home.
As expected my other half was stressing out....he had not relished going over to the house and finding something....the traffic had been bad going over and then coming home too....and he mentioned this when he got in.

I think I said something fairly unsympathetic about his stress levels and offered to swap him for mine.

I don't think I slept more than an hour that night.
All kinds of things were running through my mind at Mach 2 speeds.
I was bleary eyed and not nice to know when I got up.
We took the tinlids to school and then did some shopping.
I was distracted all the while we were in town.
I wanted to get back and speak to someone who could give me some answers.

When I arrived home it was clear that there had been a couple of calls from the solicitors.
I returned the calls.
Rachel listened to my rant, she said that it did not sound like the snake had been involved....any intervention from him would mean court and a judge.
She said there was no way that could happen without us having had some kind of notification.
But neither could she think of any other reason for the comment about me not being entitled to sell the house.
Rachel said she would investigate and get back to me.
She also said that as the buyer was having a meeting with his solicitor, we should wait and see what that meeting threw up.

I was still spooked, but I did feel a little better.

I heard nothing from the buyer and by 6pm I could stand the wait no longer and phoned him.

He told me that during his meeting he had signed the contracts that would be the start of the sale....there was no explanation regarding the worrying comment.
I was told that I would be getting contracts to sign too.
I was contacted by my conveyancing solicitor yesterday morning....I confirmed some issues in relation to the title deeds and I was told that the sale would be proceeding soon.

This morning my post contained the contracts and forms to transfer the title deeds to the buyer.....so I am hoping that very soon the responsibility of the house will be lifted from me.
Hallelujah!!

I hope I did KEEP THE HEED.
There were times when I came pretty close to losing it.
In my mind I could see this wild eyed rangy haired beast of a woman running screaming along Whalley Rd....all the traffic slowing down to look at the mad woman.
Thankfully, it only happened in my head.
