Holidays abroad

As a rule, I do not go abroad. I love England-have bypassed many opportunities to go abroad (for little or no money, most of the time) and this time I decided to face all apprehensions and go.

I've recently returned from Majorca.

I kind of semi-worked some of the time I was there but for the most part just soaked in the atmosphere.

I don't know if I'm weird for saying this but I do not get as excited about leaving the country for a couple of weeks, as most people I know.

Each time I have told of my not going when I could, people have expressed their thoughts that I'm a bit daft for not going-and they may be right!

The weather in the UK has recently been pretty awful to say the least, for months now. Attributed to sea level pressures maybe, I'm no expert. This was kind of one reason I wanted to go.

It wasn't all that warm in Paguera though!I should have taken some warmer clothes for definite but then I do feel the cold more than most.

I have also been offered assistance and work if I want to go to live there. I don't think I could-aside from I wouldn't want to leave Neill for any length of time-I'm, what's the word, boring probably! I like England, I belong here. I do wonder if I'm missing out on life though sometimes-should I be travelling more?Should I have travelled instead of going to University perhaps? (I know which would have cost less lol)..

I just don't seem to have the travel bug. I go to different parts of England quite often to work, I go on breaks a few times a year but always within the UK. I'm not that interested in sunseeking-whenever I've been abroad it's been more to soak up culture than get a tan.

I wonder if I'm a little too cautious of the unknown.

One thing that I've always found bewildering is that some people seem to place their whole existence on the prospect of a holiday abroad.

They save up all year even if It's a struggle, to allow themselves that two weeks in the sun. Is it just me or is it a shame that they place so much of their time and their daily life for most of the year, on that (usually) couple of weeks of it?Am I missing something? Then they come back, tell you all about it-make references to how wonderful the food was and how sunny it was and how much things were-and then the cycle begins again.

Having said this-I had a great time for most of it.
I was just extremely glad to be back!
And for that, I'm grateful-some people would not be.

(I'm not a fan of flying either, if I'm to be completely honest)!

:) hope all's okay with everyone on here and thanks for reading.

I love travel meself, but its whatever suits the individual, sod what anyone says/thinks do what suits you end of.;)

I love flying and would happily spend two weeks taking off and landing(maybe its the speed thing).
I have travelled extensively and enjoyed the trips, the new places and new people, but I have given it up.
I do not relish the idea of being treated at the airport like someone who is going to blow up a plane, just because I want to go somewhere foreign. So ntil things change I will be staying in the Uk(where there are many many places of interest).

Me too! :D We come over to England for our hols, what with living in a foreign land to start with. The good thing about where we are is that we can do day trips to the lowlands quite easily just by jumping into the car, bonus really! :)
