After telling you about my ultra cautious attitude to new things.......and the fact that IE 9 looked a bit.....erm, Alien.
I can now report that I have followed the recommendations of Cashy, DiG and Gary.
I have downloaded Firefox!

I thought to myself it is just as easy to get used to 2 new browswers as it is to get used to 1.
So thanks guys for giving me a gentle shove in the right direction.

OK, none of it 'feels' like IE whatever version I was using, but hey ho......just when you are drowsing nicely the clock goes off and gives you a rude awakening...or somebody comes and rips the covers off.
You get used to it.......and eventually it feels sort of secure.....I'm not there yet.....but give it a couple of days.
 
I am flitting between the two at the moment.
DiG tells me that you can customise Firefox and he has the little critter from ice age on his.........I am still fumbling my way around at the moment....and can't really give it my full attention as we have the tinlids with us.........but I think it will be OK in a few days......Many thanks for the recommendation. Much appreciated.
