I know! I Know!!!!

I haven't posted a blog for a long time......I have a very good excuse, honestly...I have.
You all know my daughter was very ill earlier this year, well it has been a bit of an uphill struggle......and I'm still drafted in to look after the tinlids quite a lot...so my time has been in short supply. Can I ask that a day has 27 hours in it please?

It is the school holidays too. Normally we take the tinlids for a bucket and spade holiday to Llandudno. This year we haven't been able to do it because alas, Nicola isn't well enough to go even on a short journey.......down Acc to get her hair shorn has been the farthest we have been...or the RBH for medical appointments.

So no fun on the pier, dipping our toes in the briny, or donkey riding for us this summer.

Yesterday I received an e-mail telling me that my husbands Experian credit details had been accessed......when this happens you get an alert in blood red letters, just so that you don't miss it and it makes you sit up and take notice.

At first I thought 'ah, it'll be nothing'...then I got to thinking...maybe someone had tried to get credit in his name......even though we take precautions of removing addresses from letters, shredding all the stuff with personal details on....
You never know.
So I got out all the details to access his account.....I put in his password, his ID number, and his special security question.
It should have been a doddle...but NO...it would not accept the details that I put in.

There was a number to ring to get help...I rang it...but they would n't speak to me about my husbands account..yes, Data Protection and all that.

So I roused him from the sofa where he was having a nice afternoon nod, and asked him to give the lady all his info and then give me permission to access his account.
Himself wanted to know the ins and outs of a jews beard as to why he had to do this......I shouted at him - 'look, just DO it, I'll explain after'.
He eventually did as he was told and the lady gave me instructions to put my e-mail address into the system.

She said they didn't have it.......I asked how they could send me an e-mail if they hadn't got my address?
Anyway, she gave me some garbled explanation that I didn't quite understand...but I did it.
A few seconds later I was sent a link which should have allowed me to reset the important information.
The link didn't work.
I rang them again. I had to go through all the same rigmarole of getting himself to rouse from his doze and give his details all over again, this time to a chap.

I was then given instructions on what to do......and the young man must've looked at my age and thought I was an old biddy, because he was quite patronising in his instructions and talked to me like I didn't know one end of the computer from a stick of Blackpool Rock(I know...he was being helpful, and you should NEVER assume knowledge)...anyway, I told him I was an old bird, but that I was an old hand at using the computer, and he didn't need to tell me exactly where the address bar was!

In the end I was able to reset all the details of himselfs account and look at the credit report....and view who had accessed it.
I should have known, he has been sorting out his car insurance and it was one of the insurance companies that he had contacted for a quote....but it always wise to check.

I thought I might have forgotten how to do this blogging lark...but I guess it is like riding a bike.:D
