I spoke to a Labour Party member yesterday who seemed a bit surprised that I'd covered the whole ward with leaflets over the weekend. I reckon it's about 20 man hours to do the whole ward but with a small team of five, it was only a few hours each - quite easy. I did miss out a couple of estates because I'm not 100% sure if they're in my 'patch' - someone's looking in to it for me and I'll have to scoop those areas up at the weekend.
So, I've started writing my second leaflet so that I'm ahead of the game. I hope to get that out in the middle of December along with organising a meet and greet which will be open to all residents around the same time.
I contacted Environmental Health again to find out why they haven't progressed the cleaning of the mess by the side of the old firestation. It's because it's actually privately owned land so of course, if the council cleaned it up it would be trespassing. Daft thing is that the mess was made by travellers who were trespassing in the first place, the council would actually be clearing up the mess but that's the way things work. Apparently it was a right job trying to find the correct owners - it's actually swapped hands a couple of times since it was first sold a few months ago. But each time it's been sold it's been to a subsidiary or partner of the first organisation that bought it - in other words it sounds like it's moving around to help with tax benefits for the company - but the guys from Environmental Health are still looking in to it. Hopefully, they'll sort it out soon - it would be nice to have a real 'win' under my belt.
Apparently my opponent is getting nervous about me - good. I like to think I'm a serious threat to his empire!
