Jet's Turn

Hello you people. Don't tell my mum I've hijacked her blog, will you?

My name's Jet. I'm a very beautiful canine with wiry black hair on my back, a grey head with a lovely beard and wonderful eyebrows, a white blaze on my chest and the most attractive, grey speckled spindly legs. I'm gorgeous.

I'm venerable, you know, I'm 16. I am also the most important member of this household. Well, my mum is the pack-leader and I have to do what she says but I'm still very important.

Anyway, what I wanted to tell you is they took me to the v-e-t's last week. I don't know why 'cause I'm not ill, apart from the rheumatics in my legs. Ooh they play me up first thing in a morning. The damn things have a life of their own or rather a non-life. They don't always do what I tell 'em and they go sideways when I'm going frontways or they sit down when I'm standing up.

So, anyhow, we set off in Nik's car, she's my big sister by the way. I just know we're going somewhere I don't want to go so I wee as soon as I sit on the seat - well, you do, don't you? Nik doesn't seem very pleased, I can't think why not. We arrive in this car park and I jump, OK I'm assisted, out of the car and I can smell the v-e-t as soon as I take my first sniff. I try a bit of backwards pulling on my lead but she drags me inside (did I tell you she's cruel to dogs?) so I wee on the floor in the waiting room. I'll show 'em.

This v-e-t puts me on a table and Nik starts talking to him and he starts prodding me and poking me. I will NOT go into where he poked his thermomo-thingy, I have my dignity, you know. By now I'm really scared so I do a quick poo, right on the table. He takes no notice at all! I'm listening to what they are saying now and Nik and this v-e-t are saying a word I've heard my mum say a lot recently, See-Nile-de-Generashun , what ever that means. Nik's telling this here v-e-t about me weeing a lot in the house (they put mats down for me, very considerate) and how I like the odd bark in the middle of the night to wake 'em up 'cause I'm a bit lonely and how I forget where I am and why I went outside and stuff like that. So this v-e-t gives her a bottle and a packet with pills in them and says I have to go back in 2 weeks. He says the pills will send more Ox-Y-Gen to my brain. I'm not going to eat 'em, though, I don't want wind in my head. We get outside into the car-park again and I'm so relieved to be out of there everything works at once and I give Nik a bit of bending and stretching exercise with the old pooper-scooper bags.

Anyway that was 3 days ago. They haven't given me any pills (they know better!) but my mum has started giving me sandwiches with butter and meat paste on them. They taste a little bit funny but they're OK so I eat 'em to please her, after all, I've had her a long time. She says she's the one taking me to the v-e-t's next time so I'll have to go, though I still can't see why.

Well it's been nice talking to you but I'm off for a sleep now.

'Bye,

(Now, who am I? What's my name? Oh yes, I remember)

Jet
