Laura's Prayer

We're not a religious family and Laura, who is 6, doesn't go to a faith school but she's obviously been taught at school about saying prayers at bedtime. Last night she knelt down (in the middle of the sitting room but no matter) and put her hands together. This was her prayer, word for word.

"Dear God, please take care of our Jet what was a very old dog and very poorly and my Nana says she hasn't got pains any more. My Nana says she wasn't always old and crabby and she would have played with me when she was a puppy but she wasn't a puppy any more. Please take care of my grampa too what died before I was even a baby and I miss him and Nana says he would have loved me a lot and I wish he was here now and he looks nice on his photos and he has a beard like Father Christmas.

Please God thank you for all my nice toys and for my birthday. Amen, love from Laura."

I couldn't help shedding a little tear.

Oh dear, lump in the throat time.

Sounds like you have a delightful grandaughter.:)
