Well, I don't know how long it takes to get sorted after moving house, but my daughter is a bit cheesed off with everything being at sixes and sevens.......not being able to find things.......not having a cooker. Her new one doesn't come until Friday. I keep trying to help out by making stuff that she can stick in the microwave....last night it was a crusty home made cottage pie....tonight she said she would cook some chicken fillets on her George Foreman griller. She says that she feels that she has 'put on' me too much over the last week or so. I don't quite see it like that. I enjoy cooking....not the fancy stuff, but the good home cooked grub that is filling and nutritious.....I love seeing someone enjoy the food without being pretentious about it. The fact that it is also giving them a helping hand is a bonus. I think my daughter will be glad when her life no longer consists of trying to live her life from cardboard boxes.
Thanks for your comments Garinda......glad I can still make you smile....even when I am in a grumpy mood.
H.R.......believe me I'm no angel......though sometimes I suspect my hubby WISHES I was........and Slinky......I am no great shakes as a mother.......as my daughter will testify to....I gave her a few swift back handers when she was growing up...and I wouldn't take any 'lip' from her either. It is just that now she is grown up, she feels more like a good mate....and you would always help out your mates wouldn't you?
We have two lovely cats at our house......and hubby says that when they leave this earthly plane, we are having no more animals.
However, we have been feeding two stray cats for the whole of this year.
One of them is an old moth eaten looking black cat....very very timid, with a bit of white on his face and ginger paws. He was in a real sorry state when he first kipped in our garage........most of the fur was off one of his flanks and he looked like he was on his last legs.
We have been giving them cooked turkey and rice...which hubby has been making....he also gets tinned tuna in oil when it is on special offer at the supermarket......as a result of this feeding program he is beginning to look a lot better....but he still will not come to us. He has sunbathed in the yard over the summer...and he will come up to the back door to be fed, but that's it. If I go out to him he scurries away and only reappears when I am nowhere in sight.
The other stray cat is mainly white with green eyes...he has two patches of grey on his head and a grey racoon striped tail. He too, was very shy and would not come to be petted. He looks a much younger cat...no more than two years old I would guess. He has been fed in the same way as the black cat....and he has come regularly to the house and has got nearer and nearer. About a month ago he let me stroke him and recently he has come into the kitchen to be fed....much to the disgust of Monty...who hisses and growls at him for his audacity.
Today the white cat was sat on the window ledge in the pouring rain......he looked drowned so I called him in and gave him some food and dried him off a bit. He wasn't too keen on the drying off process...but the next news he was sat on the big old chair purring away. So I guess I lied when I said I have two cats....it looks like I have four. Oh yeah, hubby has been cuaght calling the white cat into the house too!
