Monday night was hellish.. Nobody got a meal break or even a brew for the whole night shift. We were all well and truly naffed off by morning. We are full all of the time and babies don't seem to come out normally anymore. Fortunately due to lack of staff our managers are doing some shifts. It was horrendous yesterday morning when I left. One of our managers took over the morning shift and they do realise how bad it is. I went in last night to speak to my manager, who was working a late shift. The situation on the ward hadn't changed. It was still heaving with no staff and my manager was at the end of her tether. The upshot is that they are going once again to see higher management because something has to give. We either need more staff or we need to be cutting some services ie midwives working for surestart doing bloody social worker jobs and not midwifery, and bringing these midwives back into the hospital.
I have a long awaited appointment with the hairdresser today. It certainly needs a good cut and I also need to perk it up with a bit of colour, it will help to cover the grey. Me and Sparky are going to see the Rat Pack tonight at Manchester Opera House. We'll have some tea somewhere first and then see the show. I am really looking forward to a night out, it seems like ages since we have been out. I also need to ask Sparky when we are going to the Octagon again, so I can request the night off and get in touch with our theatre buddy Gary.
