Neighbours

Following on from Garinda's blog post I started thinking about neighbours myself and that's why I don't want to move from Ossy. Chris keeps mentioning moving over to Blackburn at some point but it doesn't appeal to me (obviously I can't for a few years now especially if I do get elected) but I don't want to anyway!

I love living in a relatively small town and it's not as though I haven't lived anywhere else - I used to live in Salford for a couple of years when I was at College. I feel like I'm in the cast of Cheers sometimes when I walk down the street and eveyone knows my name. I love it, there's usually someone around to say hello or at the very least, nod to!

We get on quite well with our neighbours but not quite as well as the neighbours that we had in Westwood St when we lived there. I moved over to Westwood St before I met Chris and the first introduction to my next door but one neighbour was on the second night I lived there. I went out to celebrate my new house with a girlfriend and arrived home a lot later and rather worse for wear. I stumbled out of a taxi (yes, I know I could have walked but in the state I was in I wouldn't have made it) and then stood in the middle of the road wondering where exactly I lived. My next door but one neighbour who'd seen me move in pointed me in the right direction - it sort of broke the ice a bit! By the way, this was about 10 years ago when I was young free and single - no time for drinking these days! Our next door neighbour was also lovely but had a habit of taking a sleeping pill to help her get through the night and then leaving her door open so her burglar alarm would go off at some point. She was also funny because the first time she saw me with Chris she asked if he was my brother!

My parents live in Ossy and of course, I'm a member of Ossy Players so a lot of my social life is around here. In fact thinking about it, I really don't want to move at all ever - I think I need to have another word with Chris so he doesn't get his hopes up.

happieness and where you feel you fit in is the BEST reason for living anywhere.
