Well I bought the nexus 5 when I got paid. Can say it is a great phone. Haven't rooted and in installed custom rom on it yet. 4.4.2 android is quite nice.
On the nex5 they have gone for the transparent look on the home screen(notification bar/nav bar) most nerd/geek like myself seem to like (though not on my nexus7) to get that before you had to get custom rom etc. Well that is pretty much what the nexus devices are about. They are phones/tablets with the developer in mind. Basically the phone has no stupid locks that stop you from modifying your phone, of which I like to dabble in without worrying about the chance I might brick the thing.
But that is what Android is supposedly all about. It gives talented people the chance to show their skills and make potentially make money from a career in coding and creating Apps for android. The transparency isn't the first thing Google have taken and implemented from the dev community. The ability to tether your mobile connection from your phone to say your laptop or another phone was developed in the dev community. Android is open source unlike apple products, so Google provide you with all the code you can modify but you have to share the source code as part of the gpl. Essentially giving Google a lot of free workers ( if you would wish to see it in a negative light)
It's why I have decided now to stick to nexus devices when I upgrade. Other companies usually have some kind of modifications to the android system just to make it look like it's their product. They add their own stuff sometimes good (HTC beats, Sony's walkman ) and sometimes bad (Samsung's touch wiz, amazons freaky kindle tablets) subjective to user experience. Personally I don't like Samsung's gimmicks (sensor stuff) I don't really feel the need for swiping my whole hand across the screen to perform some action. Though this technology is quite impressive. Again subjective to what you like. Some like talking to their phone. Oh but Google don't seem to like my voice.
Overall its a nice phone the nexus 5
I decided to tell PayPal over and over that I now think of them as a company that supports criminals since they absolutely refuse to investigate my situation (see previous post) I said I'd pay them £5 per month when asked if I could make a partial payment and was told that wasn't an option. Well told them to take me to the debt collector. What would you do?
