I have decided to use my day off today in order to do some serious Australia surfing and organising. It has been too hot for my pale skin to cope with being outside for any length of time, so I have devoted my afternoon to hotel pursuits.
In between surfing I have managed to wash all of the curtains and clothing and get them all line dried. My curtains are all fresh smelling and hung up at my clean windows. If only the rest of the house resembled those windows
We are getting quite excited about our holiday now, although it is still months away. Sparks has booked us 3 nights in Sydney at the Rydges on Capitol Square. It looks a decent location on Google Earth, not far from Darling Harbour and Central station. In Melbourne he has booked us a couple of nights at the Hilton on the Park. This is right on the corner of Fitzroy Gardens and is across the road from the cricket ground. Both of these hotels sound like good locations and we are both well used to using public transport to get around when we are abroad, so we should get to see the city sights quite nicely.
I have booked us in at the Renaissance Kowloon for one night on our way to Sydney. I got it cut price on the internet because in reality it is a bloody expensive hotel. There's no way that we are forking out for 6 nights there on the way back, so today's mission was to find an inexpensive, clean, nicely located hotel in Kowloon which wasn't already fully booked for January. I have booked us in for 6 nights at The Kimberley..... It was half the price of the Renaissance and has had really good trip advisor reviews. It is just off Nathan Rd (the main shopping area), has an MTR station around the corner and is a 10 minute walk to the Star Ferry terminal.. a good result I think..
I have also booked us in for 3 nights in Brisbane at a hotel called Rendezvous. This is across from Anzac Square near the shopping areas and Botanic Gardens, it is also a classy looking listed building with excellent reviews.
All in all a good (if expensive) days surfing. I have contacted Sparks and let him know. He has arrived safely in Berdsk and says that his hotel isn't bad. At least he got there intact, I had visions of hairy Russian geezers pointing Kalashnikovs at him and demanding money or sex, or both..
Off to hide my credit card now....
