Really pleased this morning about the piece in the Accy Obs. I do feel good that I'm considered newsworthy enough for this attention, after all there are 10 other candidates who've also just been selected - not complaining though!

I do wish people would stop bringing up the Panopticon issue in the letters that are brown nosing my opponent. What they don't realise is that it's going to work in my favour when they realise that they can't actually use it against me. For a few reasons but not least because the thing is that if I was elected I wouldn't be able to vote about it.

There is one other thing that could well work in my favour - when the last proposal was put forward, some officers from the council wrote a report in favour of it and PB said that he was going to support the proposal. He actually told his officers that he was going to support the proposal, in fact, I think it was posted on here somewhere that it was common knowledge in the council that he was going to give it the green light. Then in the space of a secret meeting with his cabinet things turned around again and it was refused.

So, either he intentionally mislead his officers and other councillors about his support for them or he hasn't got the support of his own team that he says he has. I know which of those two possibilities that I believe is most likely. They're obviously trying to draw me on the subject as they think it's a vote loser but the thing is not even an Oswaldtwistle issue, I doubt the majority of Oswaldtwistle even care about it and they're going to get pretty fed up of them banging on about it. But I'm not going to say anthing publicly yet, I'm going to wait until they've built it up into a crescendo before saying anything about it and watch it all blow up in their face (and it will blow up in their faces) - that will be fun!

Spent this lunchtime walking the Wayside Arts Trail in Burnley - a fabulous example of art in the community. A walk, 12km if you want to do the whole thing, with a number of art installations along the way. I'd recommend anyone who wants to see the real benefits of art in nature pops along for a good walk. Leaflets for the walk can be obtained from Towneley Hall which is the starting point.

Then went on to Labour party offices to have my first leaflets photocopied. These are just introductory letters and I'll no doubt be out all day tomorrow delivering them. Got to start getting even more well known as soon as I can!
