Pride goes before a fall.....and it is not good to crow about success until it has been truly tested.
To what am I referring?
Well, it has to be me boasting about having fixed the computer.
I came to it this morning....having been asked to do a New Baby Card.
When I fired up the screen, gone was my desktop....with all the doodads.
In its place was a screen asking me to choose options.....start up, diagnostics etc etc.
I had not switched off the machine, there had been no irregular shutdown.....so I do not quite know why this screen has replaced my familiar friendly one...the one that means this machine is useful rather than a chunk of junk on my desk.
The good thing...if there is a good thing, is that having had about 48 hours of normal service, it allowed me to get the data I need onto an external hard drive.....and the verses onto a memory stick.
So maybe I am still going to be getting a pain in the purse...I will still have the stuff I use regularly to put onto a new machine.
Watch this space...the machine is currently doing the diagnostics dance.
