Sad or what?

I've begun thinking that my life must be in dire staits....why? Well today the sun shined and I managed to get two loads of washing dry.....bedding and jeans.......and that little fact made my day.....how blooming sad is that? And there was Accymel (I think) saying that her life was boring!

At least the bright sunshine lifted my spirits. I don't really mind it being cold as long as we can have some sunshine and a bit of blue sky.

My TV licence expired yesterday. It said on the blurb that came with the renewal notice 'It is easier to buy your TV licence online or by phone'.....what a joke that is. I must have tried about 4 times to renew the licence online.....punching in all the details required, to find that there was no 'proceed' button to take me to the next section of the process.
Ok......I thought to myself, I will phone the HOTLINE. What a misnomer that is.....it wasn't even a warm line.
I phoned the number on the renewal notice.....it was one of those automated system things where you have to punch in numbers....well, you would have had to be a TESCO champion check out girl to get the numbers in in the time they give you....so I hung up and tried again....but this time I punched in the number to get a customer service person.
Yes, the inevitable happened......I was in a queue.......don't you just hate it when this disembodied voice comes on the line to tell you how important your call is to them? It couldn't have been that important as I waited almost 15 minutes to get a real person to speak to.
I did get a real person to speak to....but their command of English was very poor....the accent was asian and there was an echo on the line......it was very off-putting.
Because the bill is in hubbys name the chap wanted to know what relation I was....he couldn't understand 'wife'......married......but understood partner. I had to read my debit card details to him three times...and even now I suspect I will be getting a missive saying the payment hasn't been authorised as the card details were incorrect.
By the end of the experience I was I suppose what you could call a bit 'terse'. I told him of the problems I had had trying to renew the licence online....but of course that wasn't his department....and it seemed unlikely that he would do anything about it.....so in the end I told him that their music to hold the line to was 'crap'.
Now wasn't it easier paying it at the post office? Do you think they do all this to get you to pay by direct debit?
