Smart children.........?

We had the children for tea yesterday.
No....we didn't eat the children, though I can see why some animals do eat their offspring !
I mean that after school they came to our house for their tea.

It was a lovely afternoon, and of course they wanted to play out.
Tiddler(who I should re-name, because a tiddler he isn't, not anymore) should have gone home and changed out of his school uniform......his mum doesn't like him playing out in his school uniform.
When I said we should go and get him changed, he didn't want to go home.
It would mean he would miss minutes of playing out.
I told him it would only take a few minutes........he said 'that's rubbish...it takes a few minutes to cross Blackburn Road'...which I have to say is exactly right........I told him his mum would not be pleased if she found out he had been playing out in his uniform.
His reaction....'well, we just don't tell her then'
I told him that his uniform would get dirty........his response 'mum puts it in the wash every night'......
I told him that his mum would not be pleased if he ripped his pants while playing......his answer.......'I've got a few pair of school pants so it won't matter'

After this discussion and him having an answer for everything I gave up....and he did play out in his uniform (sorry Nicola).

He played in the street with a football, with a scooter, with a gaggle of other children, including his little sister.
They ran up and down having a really fun time.
I had their tea on the go.......I had made plate meat and onion pie, with new potatoes and garden peas......they also like to have pickled beetroot as well.

Thursday evening is their evening to choose the tea....they come to tea every Thursday, just because it is the day their Mum gets back from Uni quite late.......sometimes they will chose to have pizza(I don't make that myself)...other times they will ask for burgers and beans(I do make the burgers myself) and onion rings......but for the last couple of weeks they have wanted my home made plate meat and onion pie......Tiddler reckons it is just 'the best' and always cleans his plate.

If they eat up, then there is a dessert......whatever they choose it has to have squirty cream, a cherry and sprinkles on it.
This week Tiddler wante an ice cream sundae......in a tall glass with a long spoon.
I told him it was only Thursday, so how could he have a Sunday?
'OK, I'll have an ice cream Thursday then...in a tall galss with a long spoon'
That made me smile....so we made him an ice cream thursday.......and he scoffed the lot.

Bernie, he has...but when I think back his Mum was exactly the same at his age....and they say that the apple never falls far from the tree.

The pies were lovely.......not much cost and not too much effort either....not a crumb was wasted

Yes Marg I have a grandaughter who you would think she was her mother speaking their replies are so alike.
