Today I had set myself the task of cleaning the glass doors on my wall mounted kitchen cupboards...........the sunshine of late has shown them up to be really grubby and in definite need of a good cleaning.
Himself goes off to the bowling club to chew the fat with other old 'Grumblies'....so I thought it would be an ideal time to get my sleeves rolled up, a sinkful of hot soapy water and my shocking pink Marigolds.
It didn't happen.........the spirit was willing....and in my head I have done them and they are pristine and sparkling clean. Alas in the real world, they remain grubby and crying out for the hot water.
I haven't been sitting on my haunches doing nothing though.
I have been upstairs sorting out some stuff to go the the BHF charity shop.......tops that I bought thinking that I would slim down into them(that is a joke - except it isn't funny).......whose buttons gape when I try to stuff my ample chest into them.
A lovely pink summer weight coarse tweedy type jacket, M&S, no less........only worn once and now its edges have fallen out with each other.......they refuse to meet and make it up. I am really sad about that.......I liked it so much. Now it is consigned to the charity bag.
Books, shoes, a handbag, a pair of grey suede boots...Ok these have a salt mark on the suede, but with some love and attention I am sure they could be resurrected in time for next winter.
They are all going!
I am going to fasten up the tops of the bags so that I can't go back on these decisions(it has been known in the past).
I am going to ring the driver on Tuesday morning and they'll be history.
Despite me having got these things out and bagged up, there isn't a huge gap in my wardrobe.
I think perhaps I need to be doing this fling-oh next Sunday too.
